Its definitely toxic i’ll give you that… and it can be very unforgiving initially. I’m not too sure about stressful, it’s a game at the end of the day. I suggest finding weapon archetypes that cater to your play style then customize your armor to optimize things like unflinching aim, reload speeds, targeting, class abilities etc. Look into aspects that offer additional armor stats too.
A big part of the crucible is gearing up for it. It’s very easy to dismiss this for most new players. Max out your armor with ascension shards. Once your gear is set then comes the gradual process of acquiring good accuracy and game sense. That’ll just come naturally with experience. I suggest running in a team yourself, maybe 2 or 3 other players to keep things challenging and engaging. Six stacks tend to be boring stomp matches.
I hope this helps. I’m a new light player but have attained unbroken and have had success in trials. PvP can be very thrilling once you get accustomed to it all.

Getting Unbroken isn't that hard, it's just tedious (it takes what, 3 seasons? And one of the last 3 seasons was 6 months long, meaning people who started 2 season a ago had to wait a year. That's tedium, not difficulty). If you want to play against the highest tier players, you can't use loadouts you like, you have to learn to use the best meta, cuz it is objectively better than everything else, and that's how Bungo does it. They do it on purpose to keep people grinding for new gun roles (Austringer is the flavor of the season right now), but you absolutely do not get to choose your loadout if you want a high KD and to win games.

You say this like I'm new. I have been playing this game since the very start in 2014, but some of us cap out at certain skill levels. I can't commit to 30 hours of pvp every week in order to compete with these top tier players. I mean, we shouldn't literally have to commit to pvp like it's a full time job job just to have a chance
