I havent been playing much recently but I got on last night and played a series of games. Snipers are everywhere now, and here is why. Shotguns are complete trash. Even at their intended range they still dont consistently get kills. Flanking snipers is laughable, they just switch to a primary and WALK backwards while shooting you to death. All the old favorites have consistency issues. Slide shotgun, shotgun melee, point blank shotgun, and even 2-3 rounds were failing to get kills.
So there is no longer a risk to running a sniper. As far as hard scoping goes thats how snipers are used but it slows the pace of the games down. Two people see each other on the radar and stand there waiting for the other to come around the corner.......boring.

Yeah I don't know how many times I've been right up against someone with a conspiracy theory or invective, shot and either A) they are left barely alive or b) it only knocks down half oh their shield somehow. It's like uhhhhh? It's more of a problem with conspiracy theory since it fires ridiculously slow. It's definitely a high risk high reward weapon. You run in to take 2 guys out instead you either drop the guy to low health and die or get a melle off kill the guy and the added time spent on him allows the other guy to melle you to death.

So true. All of it. I just started sniping around the end of year one and I enjoy it but feel like its the only option now because shotguns are too inconsistent and fusion rifles are just as bad if not worse. Though a good side arm can be pretty effective. Problem for me is I main a legendary hand cannon and like to have a balanced set up. With amost EVERYONE sniping now, it is slow, boring and just down right cheesy most of the time. Then there are the awful maps like Bastion, First Light, and Skyshock that encourage that style of play. All I play is 6v6 solo and its getting extremely stale due to try hard fireteams and boring style of play. Even if you run into a team that plays at a good pace, you cant depend on your teammates to be anywhere around when you need them. Theyre usually running away or using you as bait so they can try for that one kill and then be outnumbered and end up dying. There are some people who just hard scope the whole time. However, "hard scoping" or not isnt the problem. Its the number of people trying to be like their favorite streamer and having a hard time doing so combined with lack of options for special weapons. You cant expect people to just pick up a sniper rifle and automatically become a quick scoping pro. Of course most beginner snipers are going to sit back a little and take their time. I think a lot of people (espcially new players) feel forced to play this way now. Not fun.

My party crash we still kills from pretty good range with one shot.. Soo I don't know what shotgun you are using..

I have a decent party crasher +1. It has performance bonus and crowd control as well as quick draw and rifled barrel for options. Its pretty solid roll but i find myself not getting kills at point blank range way too often. So at this time I see no reason to run a shotgun over a sniper.
