The team has identified the issue, and is currently developing a fix. As we're entering the holidays, we're expecting this to be addressed in January.
While we have provided workarounds, I understand that this is a frustrating issue in the game. I've had to reload an instance 5-8 times to get around the issue. Ended up fully upgrading the obelisk as quickly as possible to avoid hitting the bug, which I'd recommend you do as well.
After fully upgrading, important functions (acquiring bounties, linking the obelisk to the sundial) can be done from the Tower.

sorry but logic and reason isn't allowed here. According to the vocal majority of the forums, they do not deserve a holiday and actually should just devote their lives to the game. Anything else they do does not matter and should never even happen. Everything in their lives must revolve around their job and game. EDIT: since people can’t seem to catch a -blam!-ing hint this is a joke -

You asshats seriously need to stop defending them at every turn. Should they work through the holidays? Hell no. But should they do fixes faster? -blam!- yes. Why in the everliving -blam!- are you okay with it taking them 3+ months just to fix a shit tier bow? If they could actually do work, they wouldnt have to worry about this issue. Yet they are too worried about next seasons ever verse trash to shove in our faces, with a never ending tess notification, than actually fix and maintain a proper game. Theyre too scared to pull people from future work, to make sure the game works in the present. And continually never address it. Hows that for logic and reason?

No one ever says anyting nice to Bungie so why should they skip time with their families to fix something for an ungrateful community who literally only sees the flaws, someone could hand you a bag of diamonds and you'd hand it back because one diamond has a crack in it thank you Bungie for an awesome game that I've played for the last five Years.

I treated bungie "nicely" on 2014 when I thought they were making honest mistakes. The "nice" feedback got us absolutely no where. 5 years later and the only thing long term players know is that issues are completely ignored until the playerbase is literally screaming for months about it. I'm 26 and a vet and they could've fixed that and not released a buggy Quest for Iron Banner either. Why defend them? They are a multi million dollar company that have way too many issues. Look at D.E. with warframe... never have they said we dont know to a problem. So what, Christmas is tomorrow, so what about your personal problems(because its irrelevant for this argument)what if this was done before the holiday? Is it that hard to do mini patches since the dawning has been out to fix these minute problems. It's not hard at all to fix a global issue that has been brought to their attention from the beginning of the season... wanna continue to defend them, be our guest... as this is horseshit
