The team has identified the issue, and is currently developing a fix. As we're entering the holidays, we're expecting this to be addressed in January.
While we have provided workarounds, I understand that this is a frustrating issue in the game. I've had to reload an instance 5-8 times to get around the issue. Ended up fully upgrading the obelisk as quickly as possible to avoid hitting the bug, which I'd recommend you do as well.
After fully upgrading, important functions (acquiring bounties, linking the obelisk to the sundial) can be done from the Tower.

Is it really that big of a deal that one obelisk doesn't work that if you do a couple of things you can get it to work?. Seriously. I'm dead serious. Its a videogame. There are things that are designed the way they are that could be designed better and people are spending their holiday complaining about having to load one freaking obelisk more than once. Land at the freaking Sludge first then fast travel to the obelisk. Its not that hard. As far as the 300 million, I personally am paying for dedicated servers in the next game. I don't know what you are paying for.

Must be new around here. Destiny will never get dedicated servers, and the money you are pyind is not for that. Also note that, not everyone is Christian to celebrate Christmas, therefore your prejudices only shows that you got no positive feedback to this game.

If we can't be positive on Christmas eve then maybe a lot of the problem is with the forums. I'm just sayin'. Also, there are positive ways to bring up issues with the game. Lots of these children seem to think otherwise.
