The team has identified the issue, and is currently developing a fix. As we're entering the holidays, we're expecting this to be addressed in January.
While we have provided workarounds, I understand that this is a frustrating issue in the game. I've had to reload an instance 5-8 times to get around the issue. Ended up fully upgrading the obelisk as quickly as possible to avoid hitting the bug, which I'd recommend you do as well.
After fully upgrading, important functions (acquiring bounties, linking the obelisk to the sundial) can be done from the Tower.

Way to make assumptions. Not everyone who experiences problems uses the forums, or posts here or reddit, twitter, etc. I'm sure everyone I have spoken with about this problem is just lying and has shit internet. I'm sure the people I see on the tower circling the Obelisk, asking in local chat if anyone else can get it to work, etc, I'm sure they are all just figments of my imagination. I'm sure this game is bug free, and Bungie has delivered yet another stellar piece of content that has zero flaws. You're right. My bad.

Never said it was bug free but maybe it’s a steam issue because I’ve never seen that on Xbox. Never seen people circling it, never heard a single Paterson say they had that problem, and never experienced it. And if it really was a major issue that everyone is experiencing you would see it on these forums. It’s why there were so many posts about the EDZ obelisk. The fact that there isn’t a swarm of posts about it means it is a uncommon issue. Hell, for all we know tour connection is so awful it causes the issue for others seeing as you seem to be the one thing people having the issue have in common.

You never responded to the fact that your claim that “many” people are having the same problem as you is absolutely false as there isn’t a flood of posts about such an issue when there was a flood of EDZ obelisk comments, that it seems to be a you problem seeing as you’re the only constant in people having the issue supposedly. Basically the moment I pointed out with facts how you were lying about it being a consistent problem or even a common one you didn’t respond because you have no facts to back up those claims.

Just because you haven't experienced something, doesn't mean it does not exist. I've never seen the Nile, but hey, you know what? It still exists. Your supposed facts about me lying, are not facts, they are assumptions. When you wanted to do nothing but make assumptions and throw it in my face, I disengaged from the "conversation" as clearly there wasn't one to be had.

How about use some basic logic for a moment. Even is most people don’t use the forums it the tower obelisk wasn’t working you would see a flood of posts about it if it were actually a problem a lot of people were having. I mean if by your logic most people don’t use the forums why was there still a flood of posts about the EDZ obelisk? Because it was a constant and consistent problem that wasn’t user specific. It wasn’t limited like your problem. Hell I get a lot of lettuce errors but the lack of post on the forums tells me isn’t not an issue a ton of people are having and I don’t, like you, presume that that means it isn’t on my end. Meanwhile you are acting, and claiming, that a problem you have is a problem that is constant and prevalent but somehow still is not flooding the forums, giving away the fact that it’s not common.

I'm not sure why you're still jawing on about this. It is a problem, whether it bothers you or not. End of story. I'm not going to take my first hand experience, or the experience of those I spoken with, or interacted with and just throw it in the garbage because some unknown person on the internet said we are liars, and have bad internet. He have the same problem. Reloading again and again the tower for a chance to acceed to obelisk. No matter where I stand beside the obelisk.

guys its a timed event. theirs only so many hours in a day for an adult with a job and family. I bought your game for my nephews as well and their mother limits their playtime to a couple of hours over the weekend. We all know if this was free bright dust or a silver exploit you would fix it overnight by just shutting it off. -blam!-ing just unlock the dam thing to max for all players. you have been "taking steps in the right direction" for two years. but you never manage to reach where we need to be. I bought the D1 and all the DLC through your horse shit., pre-ordered the game and DLC day one even though I was positive it would be garbage based on the leaks and it was. you -blam!-ed around for a year. and now you have once again completely changed the game to a battle pass and a timed event rotating every three months. Fix this shit or your gonna lose your support base. I am not getting what i paid for. Stop moving in the "Right Direction" and "Listening" and fix the -blam!-ing game.
