  • Not trolling. I’m pointing out that you have a faction within the Star Wars fanbase that wants the franchise to be a sci-fi fairy tale, and they rage, complain, insult, and in some cases threaten whenever the series deviates from that. Lucas told a story that could be seen as both myth and fairytale in episodes 4-6. But when he tried to define it as a myth in episodes 1-3, that factioned raged. And Lucas ran and hid. People are just now starting to realize what they missed a generation ago in those movies. Disney took a hard turn in the myth direction with The Last Jedi, and once again that faction is raging because it wasn’t happily-ever-after. And the characters didn’t evolve in the way they expected (demanded). And your post is pretty typical of that mindset. Thanks.

The Star Wars series was a complete story with 0 loose ends. And yet, Disney decided to open the can of worms to milk the cash cow just a little more. You can think of it in your “intellectual” myth vs fairy tale, but you’ll just keep misinterpreting the other side’s argument. People hate 1-3 because they’re badly written. As for myself, I enjoyed 1-3 mostly because of a). Memes and b). The clone wars Assuming you’re right about all this, why are you implying that the “fairy tail” faction is somehow worse that the myth faction? People hate Disney’s Star Wars because it’s based off corporate greed and political justice rather than creating a good ass story for the sake of creating a story.

  • The more you dig in, the more you make my point. Star Wars was not a “complete story”. Authors had been making their living adding onto that story (“Expanded Universe” now called “Legends”) for years before Disney bought the franchise.

It absolutely was a complete story. If you’re using that as logic then no story is “complete”.

  • One person’s life is a “complete story”. So the whole world should stop when that person dies? Lucas had ALWAYS intended to tell a bigger story. He just led with the part that he felt would be more accessible/popular. It was a business calculation that made him extremely rich.
