Completely understand. I don't know about you but its really interesting to see how things change in this game.
When tdb released it seemed like a majority of the player base was calling for upgradeable legendaries. Now some months later it seems like the majority are against it lol. It makes me wonder if some of the early players have moved on from the game.

Earlier players did leave. It sucks cause alot of the experienced players who really played and knew what they were talking about left and what took their place?... Inexperienced players who don't know what they are talking about. Ask yourself, if you just started playing mid HoW would you give two f*cks about old gear? Now ask yourself, if you started playing day 1 and spent a year building an arsenal perfectly accorded to your playstyle then the devs AND the community said to dismantle it all and move on... how would you feel? No matter what i do i am going to lose my entire arsenal to obsoletion because the community and the devs said so. Its like a man working to pay off a house, then all the sudden the govt says "we are bulldozing the entire block in a month". Crazy part is the rest of the community on the block is like "we don't care, we had fun in our houses?" What do you do?

You make some great points. All of us early players can do is voice our dissent with the decision and hope they allow us to upgrade our old gear in the future. I truly believe we will be able to upgrade them in the future. So I will not delete any of my old items from vanilla up to HOW. At this point I'm not even sure if I'm purchasing ttk.

I actually think most people have stuck with it, but as time has gone on, people aren't necessarily feeling as attached to their Vault guns. Given how difficult it was to get the drops you wanted in the VoG, the idea of losing that gear in TDB was irksome. I've still never gotten a Praedyth's Timepiece or Praetorian Foil. The VoG just isn't as generous as the follow-up DlC's were with gear. And any new players can't fully appreciate it when they get a good drop, because they didn't have to struggle through it on hard with a bunch of 28's and 29's.

That's true. I mean early on we were excited just to get a legendary crucible or vangaurd drop lol. Now that stuff just rains and you can't keep up with deleting them ha-ha. I really hope they allow us to utilize this stuff in the future. I think it'd be cool to show off in raids or trials when your playing with new guys. And it'd be a sort of thank you from bungie for purchasing the game early on.

Yeah, I'd take that over an emblem, or a shader. I know I'll be hanging on to at least one Fatebringer, for nostalgia if nothing else. I'm extremely skeptical of the idea that anything from this Destiny will carry over into Destiny 2, though. Maybe your character model? Maybe level? Character import, like in Mass Effect?
-
Yea they can keep that emblem. I'm hopeful that we will eventually be able to but I know come September it won't happen.
-
Yeah. Personally, I intend to wait until I see more of what's in TTK before shelling out any more money. We know we can't take our gear (at least not at optimal level), so I want to see if the content is worth the price tag.
-
Yea same here. I actually didn't pre order and I'll be waiting a week or two before I decide whether to buy it or not. If I could take y1 weapons I'd be more forgiving. Since that is not happening my standards have been raised substantially for my expectations in ttk.
-
I'd say that's the wisest decision. Hopefully the remaining streams will show something more intriguing than this first one. Tower knowledge is great and all, but it's not exactly the reason I will or won't be dropping $40.
-
Exactly. I need to seem some gameplay before I can make a decision on ttk. We both know how well they can make this game look just through a couple commercials lol.

Yep. Activision knows how to market, I'll give them that.
