Anyone complaining that including this feature would reduce the quality of graphics, you are most certainly correct, but this doesn't mean it should be eliminated from the game.
Most major pc games have the option to reduce video settings. How hard would it be to implement something like this? If you are playing by yourself you get maximum graphics, playing split screen you get less.
Even accommodating users by including separate version of the game, a single player HD version and a 2 player SD version of the game would be fine. I'm sure there are some would say, well that's not fair, what if I bought the HD version and a friend came over, they couldn't play with me! You're right, but not in a hypothetical sense, that is the status quo.
There are a lot of people who enjoy their games on the console, which is absolutely fine. There are other people however who would rather play games on their pc, but own a console to casually play split screen co-op games with a friend/family member/SO.
To anyone who is excited to play the game, this isn't intending to rain on your parade, it's awesome if you enjoy playing games by yourself or online with friends. Nothing wrong with either of these, but do remember there are plenty of us who enjoy playing with someone else on the couch..

2 RespostasI can see your point in wanting split screen to enjoy the game locally. I get that. I am against them adding it though if they do so purely from popular demand. I believe that Bungie has created this game and made it exactly how they want and in a way they want their consumers to consume the game. If they intended for their content to be consumed via split screen, they would've had it. But I believe they stated that they intentionally left split screen out so you weren't "tethered" to the other player and you could get a full screen experience of their beautiful game. It's almost like asking a book writer to make a movie so it's easier for people to consume the content together (stretching the comparison but bear with me for a second). In a book you're reading by yourself, at your own pace, seeing it in it's full glory. In a movie setting, you might not be able to pause, or other people are talking and distracting you, not allowing you full immersion. Even though a chunk of the community may want the movie version, the creators of the content did not intend for their creation to be consumed that way. Ultimately, I think it's creators' choice and the public shouldn't be able to influence. Have your refund and speak with your wallet as you've suggested imo. Sorry they didn't add a feature you wanted but I believe in them doing it as they see fit. Thanks for making a calm, well versed topic about it though!

11 RespostasITT: people who think removing a well established feature is a step forward.

2 RespostasI understand where you are coming from... But I think it has nothing to do with graphic downgrade. It's just Destiny is not that kind of a game... It is a game you should play with your friends but unfortunately not a friend siting on the same couch... It is not a , lack of a better word, arcade game which is appropriate to go split screen... It might just seem inappropriate to the developers to include that feature and I guess if you really enjoy split screen, Destiny might not be the game for you...

1 ResponderRealistically. Do any RPG's ever have split screen? No. I'm not saying this is a 100% rpg, but you are connected online all the time. No offline PVE, no split screen.
-
ive got a twin brother who is looking forward to this game as much as i and i can honestly tell you that i would say the splitscreen is a horrible idea, we would never use it even if it was an option, it would degrade the gaming experience bungie is trying to offer. you may think you want to spend half your time whining because you watch your buddies screen only to die repeatedly as you zone out and think the swarm surrounding them is on top of you instead causing you to run blindy into enemy fire, but i doubt thats what you really want. I cant profess to know all the reasonings behind it being a good or bad idea, but in my own opinion, the game will be better off w/o the splitscreen. try CoD if you want to have a competitive multiplayer splitscreen experience, one game franchise i absolutely despise but it does have splitscreen capabilities i hear

2 RespostasAsking split screen on this is as stupid as asking split screen on World of Warcarft lol

Just don't buy the game, you don't have to parade around the forum with a #HolyShitWallofText to let us ALL KNOW that the absence of a feature a lot of people may want, but even more people don't, is gonna keep you from buying the game.
But you know you're gonna buy the game anyways...
