If you have that many you’re not using them anyway. It’s not like you purposefully grinded all of those shards. You just get them over time from meaningless tasks. Because they’re basically meaningless.

  • Imagine you being a millionaire having worked all your life to amass your fortune for someone to say, " you have so much money in the bank, you're obviously not spending it, and younger people are having to work for it, so we're taking it away". The people who brought this on, are the new players who don't want to grind out a game that was originally made as a grind, and complain because they have to actually play the game to collect currencies. The same players who want everything yesterday. Bungie have bowed down to these players and basically admitted so in the last Twid or twab, or whatever it's called now. As the OP stated, Bungie have turned their backs on the vets who have invested so much over the years.

You can sneeze in this game and find a pocket full of shards 2) it doesn’t take that long to amass that many, you’re probably just not spending them much. That’s why you have so many. 3) this is an insignificant change in the long run for veteran players. There are much bigger and better reasons to be upset at bungie. I have 40k or so shards and I could care less. Just go pound out some glimmer and be done with it. Or if you’re genuinely that upset, consider taking a break.

Bungie want more new players in their game, more possible future purchases it's pretty simple. They keep trying to simplify the new light experience one change at a time. One person says "the new light experience is bad make it better" another person says "wow you're caring too much about new light stuff and not about veterans". They have to pick one and obviously the smarter choice in this scenario is caring about new light because a veteran is hardly going to quit the game over a currency change. Let's be real As for bungie turning their backs on vets? Couldn't be a bigger exaggeration if you tried. They showed they are listening to PvP players, they showed they want to bring challenge back to a lot of things, most recently an extremely hard raid contest mode and even if you disagree with how that challenge was implemented in other areas, that's not them turning their backs on vets. That's them listening. But they can't listen to every single veteran request. There are multiple demographics of the game to consider with every decision they make.

  • Yes, I agree to a certain extent and you make some good points. But Destiny is coming to it's end and for many, it's been dead for a while, so why make all these unwanted changes instead of concentrating on fixing more important technical issues? If I buy into a new game, I don't want to be put into the last few months of gameplay, I want to start from scratch and experience the whole thing. Bungie have made this impossible by sunsetting, removing gear that players have already earned only to re-introduce it with new traits, and removing tons of areas and game modes that new players have missed out on.Therefore, any new players cannot fully experience the whole of Destiny 2 as vets did. They don't listen to PvP players....they listen to streamers who demand changes which affect their own priorities. And making more challenging content was welcomed by everyone, and has absolutely nothing to do with vet players. I think the OP was referring to the fact that everything that long term players have earned over the years gets taken from them, and all the money and thousands of hours they have invested have been wasted. It's a matter of principle.

You honestly just seem severely out of the loop and im not sure how much is just trolling vs genuine lack of awareness but im just gonna point out 2 things 1. Them adding a PvP map pack isnt a reaction to streamer only feedback come on 2. You have to be joking when you think there isnt a large part of the playerbase who complains when bungie increases difficulty in the game. Nightfall difficulty got increased, resilience got nerfed, the new dungeon is actually difficult... many many many people complain. Ive seen countless new people on forums complain about lost sector difficulty... Bungie does things for vets and some things for casuals. Again, can't please everyone with every decision

  • I don't know where you get the idea that most changes have been done for vets. Most vets I know didn't ask for harder content or PvP changes. This was implemented for hard core players and streamers who raise their revenue by carries, and elite players who complained because they were able to speed run everthing with ease. And if they were catering for vets, why do they remove all the loot we've earned, only to bring it back and expect for us to grind for it again?

Veterans didn't ask for new PvP maps? The people who have been stuck with the same rotation of maps for years don't want new maps? They don't want PvP to be balanced better which a PvP strike team will help to accomplish? Veterans didn't ask for Raids to be harder? After Root of Nightmares was clowned on for being a glorified dungeon that 4 out of 6 players can just sit on ad clear for? I'm not interested in whether you personally just haven't come across veterans who want certain things because that just shows you're out of the loop. The general consensus amongst the community for a long time was that destiny was too easy because we power creeped 90% of the content in the game due to subclass 3.0 additions/OP crafted weapons etc etc. (still the case by the way even with sandbox changes. once you have something like a crafted forbearance do you really need much else to an extent?) Resilience was too strong, content was too easy and brainless because things like resilience was too overpowered etc etc. Before I answer the loot question, remember when you say "catering for vets" they can't do that for everything like i've said a few times already. Each decision has to be carefully considered in terms of which demographic they choose to favor. Loot being sunset is a completely different discussion which has nothing to do with veteran vs new light. That's a whole other topic because it's tied to the vaulting of planets and everything else. Not relevant here

  • We'll agree to disagree then. But I'm not alone in my opinions on this, looking at the amount of upvotes on the OP. Take care 👍

I'm not disputing that people agree with your opinions. There are many demographics of this game and i'm here to say that Bungie at least tries to listen to them all. But it's not realistic to expect them to make EVERYONE happy with every single decision. There has to be tradeoffs

  • Imagine comparing a non consequential in game currency to real life money and thinking you're smart. Legendary shards are a pointless currency that are essentially only used to roll vendor weapons. It has nothing to do with grinding the game to "earn" this currency. I've played about a total of 6 hours and I have over 100 legendary shards, I'd have a 1000 in a week. In all honesty, glimmer is harder to farm than legendary shards... which is the real reason you're upset. Because now you won't be able to exchange the mountain of shards you have... that serve no real purpose, you won't be able to exchange them for glimmer. I'm sorry you'll actually have to "play the game to collect currencies" now, like you're trying to call others out for. Lmao.

  • Glimmer is not hard to farm...the cap needs needs to be increased. Why do people have to farm anyway? You get everything from regular gameplay

  • We can use them but we don't want to. We just like having so much. A reason we play is to collect them.
