Are people really this empty in their personal lives, so devoid of real life value, that they have to associate the loss of a digital fake currency inside a video game as a personal attack? As if they've really lost something of value?

Legendary shards have value inside the game when you need them to purchase things or focus engrams. If you run out, you have to go, and take the time and effort to make some more. So, yes. They have their value. I cannot fathom how some ppl go out of their way to still defend this BS. They like to get screwed, I guess...

Just check out his profile and you can see that he also is "Devoid of real life value" lol.

Because he enjoys the game and is a good player?
Because he enjoys the game and is a good player?
It's funny, right? People who have cruddy lives and cruddy jobs tend to lash out at others who have time in life
-
In my and their defense, this game is part of their life. So yeah I guess

Editado por SaferMurderweapon: 9/15/2023 2:58:46 PMThe value of something is not for you to interpret on someone else's behalf. If someone put an extensive amount of time into anything to create/generate something only for all that to vanish, of course they would be upset. Time isn't something you get back and that's why after -blam!- decisions like these, people quit assuming they don't get trapped in their own sunk cost fallacy which is what live-service devs capitalize on. They effectively manipulate you into becoming attached to this -blam!- so it's not necessarily the player's fault. They just wanted to play a game, not a second job and yet that's what they become addicted to. Destiny is literally stockholm's syndrome with a random number generator That said, people on both sides are greatly exasperating things and overreacting/baiting

You make a valid point, no one can determine the worth of something to someone else, but if a player is grinding for an indeterminate length of time for, say, a god-roll weapon or perfect high-stat armor and they don't get it, they'll dismantle the undesired gear and continue grinding. The shards are little more than a by-product, not the actual goal.

Editado por Salamander: 9/15/2023 2:22:41 PMWell, when you dedicate time to a game that requires time investment over a long period, it's pretty normal to feel some sort of way when updates are made that go right in the face of the time you put in. It's not about "digital currency". Guess you'd be ok if they reset your character? Doesn't have any actual value after all. That's what it's about.
-
Perhaps, but if players are spending so much time in a game grinding for the PvE/PvP 'god-roll' weapons, or high-stat armor, or getting Exotics from dungeons and raids and dismantling undesirable items into shards is a side-effect of that grind rather than the original goal, it hardly goes right in the face of the time you'd be putting in anyway.

Editado por Bradly: 9/15/2023 2:29:49 PMYou're talking about two different things. Removing Legendary Shards has zero real impact - the only reason why this person is upset is because this person associates having 44,000+ legendary shards as actual personal wealth. It's an ego trip. I have over 5k in legendary shards, and I can tell you, I hardly did anything for those. You are simply deleting stuff. I sure did work my tail off for those... And yes, the actual character itself has value as actual dollars were spent towards that character- between DLC's, Dungeon Keys, Silver etc.. deleting the entire character would come at a loss of the money spent. The legendary shards inside of the game have zero value. These can be earned from the F2P version as well without having to spend a cent. Removing those doesn't impact really anything, except ones own delusion of fake worth.

An ego trip is acting so self-important that you assume your opinion negates somebody else's just because it's different. Just like you did.

Diversified your wealth into glimmer (platinum), silver, and legendary shards (gold). At any time you can swap your currency around to get goals done. 250k glimmer 10k legendary shards 40k bright dust. If i buy out iron banner weapons looking for my desired roll. I spend 20k glimmer each time plus some shards, and some iron bamner token. I can buy 11 weapons at a time seeking that god roll before my glimmer is gone. If i have a huge sum of legendary shards, i can convert them into 250k glimmer in seconds, allowing me to continue my weapon or armor farm with my 99 saved tokens. To lose our shards is a huge hit to some peoples quality of life and investment.
-
This is what I'm talking about. Whenever I'm out of glimmer I trade my legendary shards for glimmer so that I can save time by not doing lost sectors and public events. The fact that every other currency that Bungie has gotten rid of allowed me to trade for glimmer but they draw the line at legendary shards is a slap in the face.

I'm not talking about 2 different things. I gave an extreme example of time investment. That's all it comes down to.
