Remember if you can all those D1 guardians the tingling feeling of an exotic dropping at the end of a PvP game or when you got those strange coins to do their magic and drop a yellow gem from the boss you solo'd in PvE...man what a feeling...Bit like getting the Vex on your 3rd drop and everyone else in the raid getting squat...okay so there are a lot of quality of life changes since then but where is the feeling of exotics being what they used to be..forget the nerfs...forget the buffs....can we ever go back to the game surprising us like it used to?

2 RespostasA simple way to think about this is that exotic drops in D1 were rare and when you got them you would be excited about it but getting them was a pain, now you can get them easily but some of them are locked behind LLS/MLS, raids/dungeons and exotic missions. I remember my first raid exotic drop and LLS drop and was ecstatic about it, when Gyrfacons dropped for me I was so happy… so even though a lot of exotics are easy to get some still require time and skill to acquire.

Here’s the truth, Bungie just hates you from using exotics, that’s why so many are reduced to be a Khvostov Replica.
-
I don't mind the current system but at the same time I do also miss random world drop exclusives. It was pretty fun getting a new exotic and just hearing the envy in everyone's voice as you use it to destroy them
-
1 ResponderEvery time I see this I think of 3 of coins. This is rose-tinted glasses at their finest
-
I 100% disagree. That was really only a factor for Year 1 - before Bungie upped the drop rate for both legendaries and exotics. Good weapons were so rare back then that any legendary or exotic made it. Locking that behind extremely harsh RNG turned a lot of my friends off from the game until Taken King. I personally had to go into VoG in D1 owning only 2 legendary weapons because I couldn’t get any others to drop let alone a heavy weapon - that was not a good system and we should not be going back towards it…
-
I don’t like surprises, I don’t get that same dopamine as I used to get. If anything I get more exited when I get all 5 deep sights to create a new weapon. At least I know thats guaranteed.
-
1 ResponderI feel like recently exotics have felt more akin to a blue engram dropping and legendary things closer to white gear. They are WAY too common and don’t feel special anymore.
-
15 RespostasGetting an Exotic shouldn't be the exciting part USING an Exotic should be the exciting part
-
Exotics are boring now altogether.
-
And remember when occassionally you got an exotic from a legendary engram? Brilliant
-
I get why people say this but it’s effectively calling for a loot nerf which I can’t agree with. Exotics could be made to “feel” more exotic tho and that would help.
-
7 RespostasI agree. They hand them out like candy anymore. There’s really no “woooo yes” factor like d1.
-
9 RespostasAgreed, Exotics are supposed to be exotic, not a dime a dozen like they are now Remember people wanting a gorgon cp in D1, because you stood a .00001% chance of getting Ghorn out of it Also Exotics from Xur should be very expensive, bring back the strange coin system , and limit how many strange coins you can get a week, make you have to make decisions
-
Editado por ZigZag: 8/19/2023 6:42:35 PMThey ruined exotics and the feeling you’re talking about the day they released those three of coins in D1. Made me quit the game actually for the first time. Every dipshit casual was getting exotics left and right until they nerfed them but the damage was done.
-
3 RespostasHow can they surprise you when you already have all the exotics ?
-
Either people complain about drop rates, or it is how it is.
-
Its all RNG and its brutal. Just take a look at the forums for the complaints of drop rates in lost sectors. Vex and touch and dungeon exotics. Heck, im still waiting on touch to drop. I think Rng is brutal as it is. Even after focusing 300+ engrams for a last man standing not a single dropped with perks anywhere close to what i wanted so i gave up.
-
5 RespostasI disagree. Playing should be rewarding, not just mostly rng based. It's better that we get them more often, in more ways, than how it used to be. It seems you more so don't like the current way because you don't feel special by being one of few who has something. It's a lot of people in the community like that. Nothing wrong with it, just don't think devs should lessen drops so people can brag about having something, while others don't.
-
5 RespostasExotic engrams need to drop weapons, not just armour. It would be more valuable. Right now exotic engrams are worthless.
-
1 ResponderYou're talking about a dopamine hit the exotic is irrelevant, early D1 legendary drops were the same. Exotics are treated more logically now than before but still not ideal. Exotics are exotic because of what they do, a function unique to each you can build on. The old rarity thing was a simple gambling mechanic to keep people playing. If you miss that its an addiction issue not a game issue. If you want that feeling you're better off playing slots or going to the bookies. Given Destinys age the change was inevitable, dopamine oriented mechanics lose efficacy overtime, you become immune.

1 ResponderLocking weapons and armor behind harsh rng has proven to be a player deterant.

5 RespostasOne of the best moments for me was Gally dropping after I’d had a terrible crucible match (didn’t have enough strange coins when Xur sold it). I was bottom (or 2nd from last) on my team and couldn’t believe it when it dropped. Even better that everyone could see their entire teams post game drops back then. Think my own team of randoms shot at me as much as the opponents the next match. 😂
-
1 ResponderThey died back in y3 of D1 because the nerf happy team brakes everything they adjust.

Everything else is from a quest or lost sector. Not really a surprise that the excitement of getting a rare drop is higher than getting a guaranteed one.

Sounds fun if you've got great RNG. Sounds terrible if you don't.
-
I get that tingling feeling everytime I do a finisher and it randomly kills me. They should do the same with exotic engrams. Give me an rng chance that it gives me nothing and just explodes and kills me. Tingle restored.
