For those who don't know, there is a bug that allows running double specials to spawn more heavy ammo, and bungie will be fixing this next season. Unfortunately, this pretty much means trace rifles will go back to being nearly useless again. So, I have a few ideas to prevent them from fading into obscurity.
1. Give trace rifles infinite ammo. They can either make them primaries or remove the reserves and make the magazine recharge similar to ice breaker from D1.
2. Buff base damage by 15% and buff crit damage by an additional 15%. This would give them a faster ttk than autos and smgs while playing into their precision playstyle since bungie does consider them precision weapons.
3. Buff reserves by 30-50% and buff damage vs minors by 40%, and majors by 25%. Given hand cannons are getting a pretty big buff next season, I feel this similar buff would be out of the question.
I personally feel all of these would be fine since Sweet business is basically a primary trace rifle with infinite ammo and can out dps most trace rifles currently, not to mention that a rapid fire auto rifle does basically the same thing since it deals more damage per shot and despite having a slower ROF the dps for both are nearly the same, except rapid fire autos have better damage dealing perks, a much better variety, and infinite ammo.

What nerf? It’s just a bug fix.

1 ResponderEditado por Eatz: 8/3/2023 5:09:45 PM1. Definitely not happening lmao 2. Trace rifles are kinda niche in PvP, this would make them OP 3. The reserves of trade rifles have never been an issue, but I’m sure no one would mind them getting increased. The damage bump would be nice but maybe not that high.

2 RespostasId rather they buff primary weapons. I do hate how exotic primaries do 40% more damage to rank and file compared to their legendary counter parts.

29 Respostas5 weeks until Starfield. Bye bye Sony, bye bye Destiny.

It's funny that you don't get heavy ammo without double specials. I'm sure they'll fix that.

3 RespostasWhile double specials has recently become meta, it’s something that some people have done for ages: particularly in more challenging content. That likely won’t change. Whenever something (be it a weapon or armour piece) is picked up by a large portion of the player base, Bungie will change it. In this case, the damage performance of double specials isn’t going to change. It’s the associated heavy ammo drop that is being reduced.

1 ResponderI can see op made some legit points, but I stopped reading the second I saw the phrase "double special meta"
-
4 RespostasI mean, either way Traces need a bit of a buff in PvE. At least the legendaries do. Ammo shouldn't be touched to badly though. The increased chances for special shouldn't change, just the bug that increased chances for heavy by running double special. Bum news for Sword and Machine Gun builds though.

And why would you use an auto rifle then?
-
I agree trace rifles could use a buff to damage but infinite ammo is a bit much
-
Editado por JazzyPaladin477: 8/2/2023 10:48:31 AMCan we stop calling it a double special nerf? Specials are not getting nerfed. It’s a heavy nerf. Or an infinite heavy ammo glitch nerf. Why would trace rifles get buffed because because heavy ammo drops are getting nerfed?

Bring back D2 laser tag!
-
Personally am glad the bug is being fixed… all for power fantasy but ammo management is an important part of gaming
-
If they get unlimited ammo then they wouldn't need 30% bigger reserve
-
If you think trace rifles are “dead” with this change you crutch to hard on double special. It will not kill them, they will be fine. Agers/witherhoard/etc + forbearance will still be a “meta” pick. There’s generally never a reason to run double special except for memes anyways.

-
4 RespostasProbably a nerf, they seem very potent now. Unlimited ammo seems unreasonably OP and weapon balance altering. When weapons are OP and popular the results are usually some type of nerf.
-
Honestly, I think Bungie should just go scorched Earth and just be like: Separate special weapons into two tiers. Tier one would be Trace Rifles, Forerunner, Eriana's Vow and any other primary weapon types made special and maybe also Glaives. Tier two would be everything else like Shotguns, Snipers, Fusion Rifles, Linear Fusion Rifles and Grenade Launchers. Then you cannot equip more than 1 T2 special weapon. Would balance double special to not allow double special for DPS, and wouldn't allow you to sub out a primary weapon for a Waveframe GL like Forbearance. But for Trace Rifles they are in a decent enough spot balance wise, they could do with a small damage boost but other than that they don't really need anything else.
-
8 RespostasDouble special meta is so prevalent because primary ammos weapons only tickle enemys. If they go through with this they need need to buff all primary weapon damage by atleast another 10%.
-
1 Responder2 and 3 definitely possible although I think you're ODing on the %'s a bit. 1 will literally never happen.
-
6 RespostasDid they announce a nerf? Last I saw they said they were monitoring double special usage this coming season.

2 RespostasEditado por BabyMoonArt: 8/1/2023 9:02:58 PMOr just not fix the bug. It makes no sense why you would. That said, if that does take effect, I'd be in favor of primary trace rifles.
