I would be very surprised if weapon crafting was as open in its perk options to make all other weapons garbage. I expect that at best we’ll be able to make our god roll that now we have to hope RNG provides. Perk pools being limited by weapon archetype, if not by each weapon. Meaning I won’t get to make an auto rifle or pulse rifle with both high cal rounds, timed payload, kill clip. Nor be able to make a 120 hand cannon with rampage and kill clip.

That sounds right. I can't find it now, but in an interview after the Witch Queen announcement, Joe Blackburn said that you'd be limited to the perks in the weapons original perk pool. So it seems pretty much like what we have now, just with RNG replaced by a more deterministic grind. I guess we'll see, though.

I expect weapon crafting to be as "good" as the transmog system: capped, convoluted, grindy, and monetized as much as they can. I surely don't expect anything substantially better than that.

I dont think it will be monetized. All the monetization this game has(outside of seasons and DLCs) is cosmetic.

They've already leaked info about it being monetized like the current transmog setup, but we'll see. Name changes will be too, apparently the issue is characters per name, as lots of pc guys have really long names.

Transmog system is monetized, you can buy trransmog materials from eververse.

Unless you need a vault full of weapons to start crafting base versions from ie: Kinetic Bow - with A/B/C perks - break it down to acquire parts & perk C for crafting You just know Bungie are gonna -blam!- this one right up & make it a 10 stage grind on every single section
