Ashes of Ariandel was a good DLC. The bosses are at that perfect level of difficulty where they’re not too hard, but not too easy, and the level was fun to go through.
The level sections in The Ringed City are actually pretty good, the bosses all just have 2x more health than they should.

*cough* frick Midir *cough*

Midir may be the worst offender, but he’s definitely not the only one. Even the Demon Prince has too much.

No no no You could summon 2 NPCs for Demon Prince and win, I've done it. Just kill the correct one first or you get pain.
Unless you meant the Old Demon King, he's not that bad, he's got less health, you could kill him later in the game
With Midir, it's a lone trip and some resistance to basically everything. Unless you summon some sunbros to help, you're gonna need a lot of gud to kill him

I always judge a boss’ difficulty based on a solo kill. I can kill every boss in the franchise outside of the Ringed City solo, but inside the Ringed City I can’t kill any. It feels like they got too caught up in their “our game’s super hard” reputation.
It feels like they got too caught up in their “our game’s super hard” reputation.
This, bosses like Lothric and Champion Gundyr still allow for build variety and player expression, things like Orphan of Kos and newer superbosses just make you play the way the developers designed you to play.

Orphan comes close to falling in this category, but I’d say they just barely skirt the edges, and still remain one of the bosses that are acceptable. I’ve beaten him without parries & backstabs (granted, it took me, like, two months), so he still feels possible. I can’t say the same for the Ringed City bosses.

Well his moveset and aggressiveness is still quite a pattern based fight. I feel like I'm never figuring out "my" way to beat him, just figuring the pattern puzzle infront of me.
