Back during Destiny 1, before house of wolves, infusion did NOT exist. it only became a thing when they introduced Etheric Light during the house of wolves expansion. And since it was so well received, they revamped on it during the Taken King and onwards. The rest is history

Now to answer your question. I believe its a way of culling the herd. forcing vets to let go and pleasing noobs to make them feel comfortable. Also i think it's their way of saying "f your best loadout" why? i don't know bruh, if you asked me D2 is a cash cow anyway. no matter what tho, people will find the meta and exploit it. if it were up to me guns would be even depending upon their type. hopefully this clears me up bro. we are on the same side after all.(i.think)

Dude infusion was never a thing until House of Wolves which was 6months after vanilla d1 and then a proper system in The Taken King. Idk why you keep saying it has been a thing when it wasn't
