Atheism is not a belief system nor is it a religion. While there are some religions that are atheistic (certain sects of Buddhism, for example), that does not mean that atheism is a religion. To put it in a more goofy way: If atheism is a religion, then not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Sure but atheism does take belief. There technically is no proof of any Big Bang that I know of

You clearly have no idea what atheism is. Atheism is the disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Atheism is not a religion because it because it doesn’t meet the criteria to be one. In fact it’s the opposite of religion.

Editado por Tilman G: 11/7/2019 11:38:20 PMI personally don’t think that a religion needs a supernatural power I don’t think Scientology has one(please note I don’t know anything about Scientology because the internet will not answer my questions. Please correct me if I’m wrong about the Scientology thing)

I literally gave you the definition of what it takes to be a religion, it doesn’t matter what you believe the definition is The definition of something is the definition of something.
-
I thought you were going based off what you believed the definition to me, my bad. Can we agree though that is meets all the requirements except for a supernatural force?
-
Belief≠Religion Atheism is a belief of the lack of existence of god or a supernatural force. I say this again, religion and atheism are polar opposites. It is by definition impossible for atheism to be a religion. I will end this by saying this again, belief IS NOT the same as religion.
-
A religion is by definition a set of beliefs(noun, not verb)(also I never said belief alone) And religions have to explain origins of humans(and earth), which atheism does.
-
So by your argument believing space aliens are controlling the planet is now a religion. I say this again, a religion is a set of beliefs that support the existence of a supernatural being. Not a base set of beliefs, if it was, there’s now the religion of Ghost Bucket because I have my own set of beliefs. All of which are my own.
-
I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m just saying that atheism matches all the requirements except the supernatural part.
