Unless Bungie adds Regional Dedicated Servers (as all AAA Titles have now), I'll never consider coming back to Destiny.
And before the Fan Bois whine in, I played 9,000 hours combined between D1 and D2, so I am anything but a Casual player. If Bungie wants me and my money back, bring them in September.

Just out of curiosity, how well are your regional dedicated servers going to work for fireteams where the fireteam lead/host is on one coast and their teammates are on the other?
-
Probably better than having the Host / Leader's family all start streaming movies at the same time and using up all his bandwidth.
-
Just curious how that person isn't still going to be lagging with a dedicated server? They're still going to have a bad connection to it and most likely greater latency than other players.
-
Your forgetting that With a Dedicated Host Servers, a player's bad connections should not be affecting the other players like it would if the bad connection player was Host. The only time Peer to peer works is with large population of players (which there are not anymore in Destiny, having lost around 14.5 million players) that are geographically close to each other. As soon as the population collapses, you are at the mercy of whom ever was left and their connection quality.
-
Aus usually just gets one dedi server in most games. So everyone would be connected to the same one.
-
You're still ignoring my question and point
-
Not at all? Everyone is connected to one central server. Therefore there is no host/lead player. Your point is mute.
-
So if a player has a shitty connection to the host server, you're magically not going to notice it?
-
You'll notice it. But the player lagging doesn't get an advantage. Like they do with a p2p connection. P2P connection actually makes lag switching possible. Which doesn't happen with dedi servers. There's a reason why literally EVERY other AAA shooter uses Dedicated servers.
-
Google "lag in (x)" game with dedicated servers.
-
You're missing the point ENTIRELY. Yes, playing online always has some sort of lag or issues. Dedicated servers, however, are far better than the ancient p2p system and would improve the QoL for a lot of players. You Bungie defenders are insane.
-
You're right, they would improve QoL for a lot of players and they'd also make them significantly worse for v others. It's not a magic solution that makes everything sunshine and lollipops, but keep on with your bullshit hate without looking at the big picture. Regional dedicated servers will make things better for the players in a lobby within that region and yes, it would cut down on high end Comp cheating, but it all comes with huge costs that would require huge sacrifices to other things like actually creating content for the game. Dedicated servers aren't free. So yeah, go ahead and add them and when there's no new content to play, see how long they stay up and the game live.
But Bungie is bad!!!
-blam!-.
-
It wouldn't make it significantly worse for people. You're pulling that outta your ass dude. LOL i'm not hating, it's rightful criticism. Just cause I'm not kissing Bungies butt like you xD Destiny is one of the highest selling franchises of all time. You telling me they can't afford Dedicated servers like EVERY other AAA shooter out there? xD What a terrible excuse. You're a joke if you seriously think Dedicated Servers would come at the cost of content. Heck kickstarter games can afford to use Amazon/google cloud for their dedi servers.
-
Dude. You know exactly jack and shit about what you're saying. Instead of watching Joe streamer and vomiting their garbage takes, try learning how real life works.
-
Ah the old "I'm anti Streamer so I'm smarter than you". Good one. You couldn't actually come back with any facts could you? Nothing. Use google next time and you won't look like such a moron. You're completely wrong :)
-
I gave you facts, but ah the old "i can pretend I know shit and insult you, but I'm a victim when called on my bullshit". One of us has watched developer videos and had hours of conversations with the people who actually you know, make the game. That isn't you. Thanks though 👍
