Well, what else could it be? Take a look at it by each enemy race. Fallen - unlikely to be them because the most recent Raid was about them plus they were also the antagonists of Zero Hour. Taken - again, unlikely due to their involvement in Last Wish and Shattered Throne, with the whole Dreaming City storyline technically still active. Infinitely less likely if Hive are to be discounted. Vex - have already had an involvement with The Leviathan in the form of Eater of Worlds, don't think the players would be too happy to see that idea be used again due too how poor EoW is considered to be. Cabal - presumably the focus of the season. Perhaps Calus tasks us with Raiding a vault of technology that the Cabal have gleaned through their historical conquests, that have been alluded to in the Lore tabs for Leviathan items? Not out of the question. Scorn - genuinely have no idea where the Scorn are at right now. Seems like Fikrul is just dying and coming back to life, only for us to kill him again. Can't imagine them having enough firepower to pose a threat. SIVA/Spliced Fallen - no. I mean, we know there is SIVA on Nessus but I'm certain that all sources say it's dormant and harmless. The Leviathan could most certainly eat some SIVA, and the timing of Zero Hour/Eramis makes it at least a contender but I find it very hard to believe that it would be the final act of a Cabal season. So, that realistically leaves us with Cabal and Hive, neither of which would be surprising. Bungie have given very little away about this upcoming season, which I'm a fan of.

  • The only way Hive could be involved if it’s an attack on the Leviathan. But why should they do that and who should they do it for?

  • Well, we don't know. When The Taken King was announced, the Cabal were known to have involvement via Phobos, but no one expected the Emperor, who might well have been Calus at the time (I don't know), to order the Skyburners to kamikaze the Dreadnought in order to give themselves a foothold. The Dreadnought is expected to have some involvement in Destiny 2, and while it would make more sense for it to be later on with Savathun, it's foreseeable that Calus may have an interest in it, especially if he was the one who gave that order. I mean, who is to say that the Leviathan has to remain by Nessus?

  • If I remember correctly, Ghaul was the leader at that point in time already, but I’m not sure. Either way, there’s a clear difference between D1 Cabal and Calus‘s loyalists, even to the Hive. And Calus forces have only had direct war against the Red Legion.
I mean, who is to say that the Leviathan has to remain by Nessus?
Concept art for Penumbra we’ve already seen in a ViDoc.

Fair enough. Think you could send me a link to that art/ViDoc? Ultimately, this is all just speculation. I still don't really know whose "Last Wish" it is. In the trailer, Mara says "I've waited so long to fulfill one last wish", while Petra says in the post-Raid cutscene that "I should have known Riven would grant one last wish", but I was under the impression it was a corruption of our wish to save the Dreaming City, perverted to the benefit of Savathun. A lot goes into the name. As far as "Crown of Sorrow" goes, sorrow is a very particular word. You're right in saying that it has different connotations in other languages but I'm of the opinion that if they wanted it to be taken differently, they'd have used a different English word. As I said in my first post, it doesn't necessarily have to mean that the Hive are the enemy race involved, what if the Crown of Sorrow is itself a Hive relic? The use of the word alone is enough to mean Hive cannot be entirely unrelated to the Raid.

  •
Fair enough. Think you could send me a link to that art/ViDoc? Ultimately, this is all just speculation.
I’ve now looked trough every ViDoc related to the annual pass and I can’t find it anymore. It was a shot of someone drawing a picture that depicted the Leviathan in the skybox of Nessus, but with a seemingly closed mouth. I think this shot played while Cristopher Barret talked. At least in my interpretation.
As I said in my first post, it doesn't necessarily have to mean that the Hive are the enemy race involved, what if the Crown of Sorrow is itself a Hive relic?
