1. Its more like a third, and not half.
2. How much money do they spend on the game compared to PVE players. Hate to be "that guy" about it....but this is a business. So even if its a third of the player base, if there is no reliable way to turn their participation in the game into MONEY for Bungie....then they arent' really a benefit to the game from a business perspective.

You have a point, but if we are talking about money makers then how much free advertising do you think pvp streamers have done for this game?
-
I don't know much about developing video games, but I would guess it costs far less to develop pvp content vs pve. So even if it is less than a 1/3 I bet it would still be worth it.
-
It generally does. But the problem is that the trend the gaming world is moving towards is that its becoming harder and harder to MONETIZE that content for PVP. The two biggest PVP games right now are BRs...and their FTP. Even established franchises like CoD and Battlefield are finding it harder to maintain their business models under the pressure The issues aren't around the viability of PVP they are: 1. Destiny has always provided a mediocre experience in a saturated market. 2. PVP shooters are moving from small team shooters to BRs. 3. The preferred model is moving from AAA to FTP. 4. The PVP experience in Destiny limits what Bungie can do with the core and foundation of the game....PVP. IOW, Destiny 2 is a deeply flawed game...and the vast majority of those flaws were the result of features BUILT into the game in an effort to maximize PVP appeal. to hardcore pvp player. So at what point do you stop trying to pound a square peg into a round hole??
-
On point #4, I assume you meant PvE, right? Aside from that, I don't think Bungie should remove PvP and this is coming from someone who primarily plays PvE. It has a place in the universe and lore of Destiny, but I think the root of the problem is the shared sandbox that both PvE and PvP players have to deal with.
-
Yes. Damn auto correction..... True my points are based on the common sandbox pvp and pve have been forced to share. It’s not working and it’s never going to work....I said that four years ago... and here we are right where I said we’d end up. But if Bungie finally splits the sandbox then maybe they can create a quality experience for both pve and pvp. Not break the one to benefit the other.
-
It’s literally almost split down the middle. Look at the numbers, aztecross shows the numbers in video on this if you want to see

Editado por TheArtist: 4/1/2019 3:29:30 PMNo it isn't. https://destinytracker.com/ Now check out Guardian.gg (I can't give you a link because the website doesn't work with the version of Internet Explorer that I'm being forced to use at the moment) You'll see that PVE engagement was 649 K, while PVP engagement was just under 600K. While on the surface that looks like a "50-50" split...it really isn't. 1. Bungie counts Gambit as "PvP" so that 599K number is inflated. Because its both Gambit and Crucible combined. 2. If you look at Guardian.gg you get pure Crucible engagement which was only 440K yesterday. So 160K was Gambit's engagement yesterday. 3. Its an Iron Banner week. Which has always led to an influx of primarily PVE players to the Crucible.....and that spike in participation has traditionally resulted in PVP numbers being close to PVE numbers for the week. 4. But since we know that 160K represents Gambit numbers....the Crucible isn't even seeing that much of a bump anymore. 5. If you check most weeks, Crucible engagement is between 300-350K. Compared to PVE's 650-750K. Or roughtly about 2:1 PVE versus Crucible.
-
Don’t forget about those numbers counting players like me who will run pvp for milestones or quests only. And only when all three toons have no pve left for the week. The number of players being tracked in pvp is false bc of milestones and quests imo.

Good point.
-
Thanks dude, here’s to a great pve experience in d3!
-
Really grinds my gears seeing people talking this 50/50 bullshit lol.
-
In fairness, it's because Bungie's cooking the books. Instead of counting Gambit separately, its bundling it up with PVP in order to make Crucible engagement look healthier than it is. I just came from a thread with a PC player who is complaining about MM problems that are all symptoms of low player numbers.
-
I've played crucible all day today, quickplay, it's not dead but it's only sweat lord pinnacle weapon god's that live 9000 miles away. Deffo not many playing, at least in Europe. N I watch storymachine, he plays pc, n says mm is totally broken, it's like MLG finals n there's max a 10'000 pc playerbase in total, who still play.
-
PlayStation has the highest player numbers of the three platforms. My experience on PSN is like yours. Its just an obnoxiously sweat-fest/pub-stomping ground because all the average players have been run off. But not enough have left to make MM difficult. My experience on PC also confirms storymachines. I tried to MM into a Gambit match right after Season 6 started....and I gave up after 5 minutes. The game couldnt' find me a match. I've NEVER had that happen on PSN.

Gambit buddy .

Yeah someone else just said that as well. I didn’t realize gambit was counted as PvP
