There were many meetings with Blizzard in the months after D1 release with the lead devs of Diablo3. Bungie needed help on what works with rng, what doesn’t, what players expect and how to keep players happy with drops and progression.
They’ve cleared ignored every single word.

Precisely. Because this game is back to making the same boneheaded systems mistakes it was making 4 years ago. Except now you can’t excuse them on the basis of inexperience. It’s either willful ignorance or willful arrogance at this point.

I wonder if this has something to do with Activision pulling out. Bungie seemed to take several pages from Blizzard's playbook early on, but they seemed to have gone their own way, as if some faction within Bungie said, "Hey fellas, we don't need no stinkin' WoW help." Now, that's just me making stuff up, but it is curious as to how almost non of Blizzard's success seemed to have rubbed off on Bungie.

Probably. But I think there is a fair amount of chaos going on right now at Activision. What CEOs will often do is front-end load their tenure. So the things they do pay off big in the short-term...but then the exec leaves before (or just as) the long-term problems start to manifest...... ...so they leave as the conquering hero, and their successor is the steward who winds up having to clean up the mess....and gets saddled with the blame. I think that's whats going on right now at Activision. The current CEO is having to try to clean up a lot of the messes that Hirshberg left behind. So there is a lot of restructuring going on withing A-B. But I also think Activision took a loot at Bungie and Destiny....and just realized that its a bad investment for them. Consuming lots of resources in terms of development and marketing....but not generating the returns to make it worth that level of investment. I'm sure that Bungie's acting like a bunch of angry teenagers and their determination to ignore Blizzard's formula for success in RPGs, and insistence on taking the franchise down a path that will make it increasingly inaccessible, and severely limit its appeal was probably the last straw. When the split was announced, my initial impression was that Bungie had taken advantage of the chaos at Activision to sneak out the back door with the kids. But now having watched how Bungie is aggressively mismanaging this franchise and its relationship with the player base in the wake of the split....? Its become clear that Activision just decided to wash their hands of what is becoming a bad situation.....and one that will only get worse as Anthem and The Division 2 drop. https://destinytracker.com/ These are the numbers for a RESET day...and the first day of a seasonal event. Destiny 1 in Years 2 and 3 was beating those numbers at this same time of the year. With less content. Being on fewer platforms....and without Actiivison having to give product away trying to seed demand. How do you justify this to your shareholders if you're Activision?

One need only to try to use Activision's Web site as an indicator of what Activision is like.
