“Muh global warming is the most threatening thing on earth right now!” Hello dipshits, I’ve lived for millennia and the weather and climate has always fluctuated, with or without significant human pollution. I find it more concerning that your United States has started legalizing the murder of full-term babies. Sure, it’s important to establish that no matter which side of the border someone is on, they should still be treated as a human being, but then you people inconsistently and hypocritically say that people should only be considered human on one side of the womb.
-
Nah! Unless your balls are literally freezing off your body it hasn't officially gotten cold yet! Everyone knows that! Besides the New Green Deal will save us from the world ending in 12 years 😄
-
Well, if human activity doesn't have a significantly catastrophic effect on the Earth's climate, then the deification of humanity cannot be justified.

2 RespostasEditado por Uncanny_Vale: 1/30/2019 7:47:08 PMHow to fail at science: Use one of the predicted outcomes of climate change to try and disprove climate change. https://theconversation.com/amp/how-frigid-polar-vortex-blasts-are-connected-to-global-warming-110653
Why cold air plunges south Greenhouse gas emissions from human activities have warmed the globe by about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1 C) over the past 50 years. However, the Arctic has warmed more than twice as much. Amplified Arctic warming is due mainly to dramatic melting of ice and snow in recent decades, which exposes darker ocean and land surfaces that absorb a lot more of the sun’s heat. Because of rapid Arctic warming, the north/south temperature difference has diminished. This reduces pressure differences between the Arctic and mid-latitudes, weakening jet stream winds. And just as slow-moving rivers typically take a winding route, a slower-flowing jet stream tends to meander. Large north/south undulations in the jet stream generate wave energy in the atmosphere. If they are wavy and persistent enough, the energy can travel upward and disrupt the stratospheric polar vortex. Sometimes this upper vortex becomes so distorted that it splits into two or more swirling eddies. These “daughter” vortices tend to wander southward, bringing their very cold air with them and leaving behind a warmer-than-normal Arctic. One of these eddies will sit over North America this week, delivering bone-chilling temperatures to much of the nation.
Climate change is real. Although man made factors may have an influence, the most influence on our climate is that from the activity of the sun. Recently there was a period of about 6 months where the sun had very low solar flare activity, and sunspot activity was little to none. That last time this phenomenon was observed, a period of global cooling occurred shortly afterward, which was referred to as a micro ice age. There were theories that another micro ice age may occur, but since detailed records of previous solar flare and sunspot activity are not availabale, the theories are not very conclusive. If the micro ice age does actually occur, the temperature of the planet could steadily decline for a period of up to a decade. This cooling would drastically benefit the environment and the air quality of the planet, and allow us a much needed rollback to the recent rising temperatures. Basically it would be a lucky break, and one that should be taken advantage of, so that if global climate change is influenced by mankind as much as it is purported, we can re-examine and adjust our effect while having more time to do so. Even if a person does not believe that humankind has an influence on climate change, and even if a person believes climate change is a total hoax, it is hard to imagine a person who would not wish for a cleaner planet. As far as skepticism goes, it's healthy. Skepticism should always have a place and be respected, especially when an issue is politicized and used by public figures as a hot-button issue in order to gain votes, influence, and/or funding. On the subject of climate change, it is almost impossible to find a study or compilation of facts from a source that does not have an agenda one way or the other. In my opinion, it is common sense to come to a conclusion based on ones own experiences. My expereince tells me that trash piles up, and areas with a large number of carbon emissions have bad air quality. My experience also tells me that politicians, regardless of party, agenda, affiliation or origin, are lying, self serving narcissists who exhibit sociopathic behavior. (Opinion, I'm not qualified to make an official diagnosis). So if you want to say that man made global climate change is a giant hoax, that's fair. But when you look at places like LA and Mexico City, and see the air quality, or when you look at garbage dumps that sprawl for miles and miles, I think it is hard to deny the effect of mankind at least on our immediate surroundings affecting our quality of life. So when a news story exerts a strong opinion one way or the other and it feels like propaganda, and then a politician says "Such and such and so and so, global warming blah blah blah, so we are going to raise taxes and issue fees and fines and generate revenue!" go ahead and call bullshit. I do. But when a person says that life on Earth would be better for us with less trash and less emissions ruining our air quality, and provides proven ways to do so, that's common sense. If you read this whole thing, then thank you for humoring me and listening to my opinion. I hope that whether or not you agree with me, we can live together in peace, and tangibly help create a better, healthier living environment.

6 RespostasClimate change makes weather more volatile and unpredictable because green house gases trap more of the Sun's energy in the atmosphere. It's called "Global Warming" because **average** temperatures increase. But you also get more EXTREMES of weather.

2 RespostasEditado por High Charity: 1/31/2019 8:26:32 PMLet's dissect this: One, most climate scientists switched to calling the overall phenomena "climate change" as new data came up proving how weather patterns, no matter the time of year, will be more significant. Two, global warming and climate change are usually considered two separate entities. Global Warming being the increasing heating up of the atmosphere humans have been contributing to since the Industrial Revolution, and Climate Change being the affect that has on the planet, for example: rising sea levels, loss of ice in the Arctic and Antarctic, extreme weather patterns.

It's amazing how many people who deny climate change don't understand how it works. You know, it would probably make people trust you more if you didn't make uneducated statements like this. Climate Change is going to cause more events like this. It will cause more extreme weather patterns as long as it continues to get worse. More cold snaps, more hurricanes, more blizzards, more wildfires, etc.

It's climate change. Think of it like waves. When the crest (high temps) of the wave is higher, the trough (low temps) is lower.
