In D1 there where not Subclass Trees each with preset abilities,
Instead we had a list of unlockable perks I guess you would call them and we got to choose one in each line.
If we had this in D2 for example,
I'd be able to use Shoulder Charge with a Sentiel and not have that determine which super I'm using.
Really I think this is one of the ways in which D1 was a better game, and I hope some day Bungie sees that and it gets changed.
-
I miss this capability to customize your super to your play style and mission set up. Being locked to a tier was the most disappointing blow when first opening what I thought would be my skill tree in D2.
-
2 RespostasNo then ppl r just gunna use broken Set ups that's stupid. Presets is how u keep pvp balanced. Now the presets they made aren't very balanced but that's because bungie makes questionable decisions at times
-
Although I highly doubt this will be implemented during the rest of D2s life span, which is probably not going to be that much longer, I think that D3 will have this feature. Bungie is already working on D3 and without the restriction of a publisher, Bungie is planing on making Destiny more of an RPG. Being able to customize your skill tree how you want is a very RPG thing. So hopefully we get that in D3.

1 ResponderI mostly just wish we could pick which type of melee ability we have separately than every thing else, Like maybe a Melee Tree.
-
14 RespostasBump. D1 was better and when D2 was coming we all thought it would be even better, but Luke Smith had the last laugh there, because D2 is inferior in almost every way.
-
1 ResponderBorderlands 2 skill trees > all of destiny's skill trees
-
29 RespostasNope. It’s easier to balance subclasses with the trees, rather than mix-and-match perks. Patches and adjustments take a lot less time to roll out now.
-
4 RespostasEveryone ran the same tree. Imagine saying stupid shit without knowing the reality.
-
5 RespostasIf you ignore the stats/jumps/ and grenades, there’s actually not a lot of choice in D1. The main thing was the super perk (But that’s the same on Destiny 2) but the majority of the time there was a clear choice on what to pick with a few niche encounters where you’d change. Don’t get me wrong, more choice is better but I wouldn’t say Destiny 1’s skill tree was absolutely amazing that it puts Destiny 2’s to shame. If they buff each subclass (Quite a few outright suck) and make them more impactful and with a better identity then there would be no reason to complain about it

1 ResponderEditado por MC 077 Lasombra: 1/21/2019 5:37:49 AMYou’re a little off. Your mixing Arc with Void and that is not how it worked in 1. You subclass determines your element and they don’t mix. Shoulder charge is an Arc ability For Earthshaker. The comparison would be pairing SC from Earthshaker with Trample from Devastator.
-
Ok a lot of people are saying to this post that d1s subclass customization wasn’t that great and people used the same stuff anyhow, but the thing is if d2 had the option of switching out perks it would be much better, as I wouldn’t have to choose between burning maul and melting point, I could use sunspots with roaring flames, ect....
-
Illusion of choice
-
Was a lot harder to make balance attempts as well causing a multitude of abilities to be nerfed simply because the combination of certain perks made them powerful.
-
2 RespostasIn D1 gamers had more freedom to customize their characters. In D2 it's set that you don't have that freedom like D1 especially with set stats and set mods.
-
While I agree we had more choices in d1, they were not that many good choices. Very seldom did i change my load out on d1. There were a few parts I might change one perk, but as a whole I played one build I liked which is what d2 has. For D3 I would prefer they open the gate. More choices, and viable builds. Make stats matter, and more of them. Make a real rpg.
-
Any attempt to give us less ability to customize our player is a terrible idea. To me, the new skilltree format was Bungie just saying “we are too lazy to update game balance over time, so we’ll just make 3 set trees and use a big word (attunement) to describe it so it’ll seem smart”.
-
Editado por Zelrons: 1/20/2019 11:17:49 PMD2 is better because it gives us neat abilities that are balanced. Being able to mix perks isn't near as good as people think it was in their rose tinted glasses as many perks were only good or even useless without the combination of another specific perk. People want it because they like the idea of mixing the perks from the existing paths, but if you were able to mix them many if those perks wouldn't exist at all.

Editado por reenry: 1/20/2019 11:15:36 PMI dont really care anymore. Each skill tree works with itself really well and other exotics. I didnt know people still cared tbh. I thought after a year of complaining you guys would get tired and move on, but god forbid when it comes to the stubbornness of the forums.
-
I think it is too late for D2 make changes like that. Hopefully with D3 we will get something better tha both games.

Editado por Alphard: 1/20/2019 11:35:19 PMI hope that when D3 comes around they bring back this system. D2 feels way too simplified or, should I dare say, dumbed down. They did this in Diablo 2 VS Diablo 3. (Just as one of the many examples). In Diablo2, you had a set number of points to go into your skill trees and you had to plan carefully. In Diablo3, you level and unlock the next skill. Thats it. Same with D1 VS D2. D1 you had to plan your super and build accordingly and in D2 its already done for you. A lot of things were simplified and in some areas its good, but in others its not. Guess it all comes down to what kind of game you're looking to play too. Some people prefer to load a game and shoot stuff and some people prefer the intricacy of customizing everything.

1 ResponderYear one had no Titan solar class, Hunter void class and Warlock arc class too.
-
2 RespostasNova bomb with lance and that slight tracking perk. I loved mayhem when you saw Nova Bombs cross mapping.
-
1 ResponderI don’t see it changing for D2 without another overhaul to the game. I’m ok with this too. D3 will be, rumored by a reliable source, focused more on the RPG aspect so we’ll definitely get a more similar way to D1 back, if not even better.

Editado por Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 1/20/2019 6:23:00 PMEh, they both have pros and cons. I wish they would be less rigid with it in general. Like make grenade a type that isn’t class specific, but it’ll match the element of the active class. Why can’t I have an arc wall grenade or a void trip-mine grenade? Same with other abilities. I hate that cloaking is tied exclusively to the void class for hunters. It’s one of the main reasons I main void. Or that new arc staff melee for arcstrider. Why can’t I do that uppercut as void with my bow, or as solar with a knife? They just really seem to dislike giving players options in nearly every avenue of the game.

7 RespostasEditado por Helljumper RUSS: 1/20/2019 11:33:28 AMDestiny 1 had lots of options for subclass builds, but only a few combinations were any good. Destiny 2 uses skill trees with preset melee and super abilities, with grenades and class abilities being changeable. Perhaps these two systems could be mixed together, like a pre-set Super tree that can have one of several pre-made melee abilities applied to it. For example: Attunement of Chaos with Devour; Way of the Sharpshooter with Explosive Knives; Code of the Missle with Knockout.

Editado por draycole: 1/20/2019 5:38:12 PMD2 has more perks, supers, synergy D1 has more customization in the same way d2 has billions of ways to customize your character due to the shader system.
