4 RespostasWait so you're trying to tell me the Democrats support Trump and yet you still love him?

1 ResponderYea, back in the olden days the parties were basically opposite. Now the kkk is all trump supporters, weird how the parties evolved that way
if i run fur president ima run in the Birthday Party

autocorrect wants me to be a fur president i guess
4 RespostasThis is why I don't like Trump as President He isn't a real Republican.

14 RespostasImagine thinking the people who were part of the KKK would vote for Bernie Sanders or Barack Obama. Or would be the ones to sign the Civil Rights act. There was no “party switch” per say but to claim the parties have remained stagnant and the modern Democratic Party is still made up of a bunch of racist white southerners is stupid.
also this really doesn’t mean anything as it’s anecdotal evidence. But every little bitch boi who’s said some racist shit to me has been a die hard republican
Cool, cool.....I'll be sure to tell him next time he stops by.

People change over time and so do the institutions they reflect.

1 ResponderYou do know that the Republicans were liberal and whatnot in the 1800s also.

1 ResponderThe clan was founded by six ex-Confederate soldiers who were opposed to reconstruction in the South. At the time of the civil war, the Democratic party had split, with Southern Democrats representing the Confederacy. The Republican party at the time was much like the Democratic party today. Party ideology of various parties in U.S. routinely changes over time. This is why up until they late 1980's early 1990's, in many Southern states, there were mostly Democrats in office. These Democrats, known as Dixiecrats, opposed segregation, civil rights, and voted the Republican party, which had grown more conservative after civil war. In the 80's/90's these Dixiecrats mostly officially switched to Republican party. In today's political atmosphere, there is no doubt that members of KKK, and other white supremacist groups, identify as siding with the Republican party. So while Klan was founded by individuals calling themselves Democrats, they were a branch which had split off from the main party and sided with the Confederacy.

Even worse, Democrats were the ones who started calling Thursday "Friday Eve" Studies show roughly 83% of soul-crushing office talk can be traced back to the Democratic Party
