Hey all,
So in crucible I fell in love with the Valakdyn auto rifle and so far it has treated my warlock well. However my one struggle is the Jotuun... I cannot seem to counter it as I have never encountered a weapon like it before.
Is there any advice on countering it?
I already learned that if a dust rock gets me I was stupid- if a Le Monarque gets me I stayed in the sights too long just like the Inzangi and Queenbreakers, and as for the good ole bygones and go figure.... well it is a gun fight and I usually will win against these. If its a NF or LH I usually just find cover and have them come to me so I can headshot them with my auto or with my trust. But Jotuun is something I just cannot get around!!!
Any help is needed- and heck no I never want to see a nerf post- these new additions to the meta are great but also very challenging for someone like me who just got back to Destiny since D1.
Edit
Great Responses so far. Thank you very much!
Edit 2:
Well I applied what i learned and in Iron Banner I finished all the bounties rather quickly with great KD-KAd-KDA most of the time. Turns out HC Trust is my ole reliable. And my movement is def better. Ya'll Rock!!!.

1 ResponderDon’t worry, all the crucibabies will whine and cry until the gun is ruined and not worth obtaining anyway.
-
Continually move. After going up against it for the first time i thought it was the stupidest weapon in crucible. After the 3 round lf the comp match we figured out its tracking was bad. Moving fast will send the orb flying past
-
1 ResponderDon't play PVP, best counter.
-
Whatever the jump is on your gaming set of choice, use that often. People can't lead targets in the air with projectiles.
-
Learn better movement and positioning. Will make a big improvement in your skill. Plenty of videos on YouTube about positioning. Strafing helps. Watch higher skilled players play against it if possible. Watch what they do differently
-
1 ResponderJust move. It doesn't even have to be a lot. Don't backpedal, instead strafe and advance. Jumping can be useful but it can also put you in guaranteed kill spot as in air manueverability is Garbo in this game. I've been playing with the jotunn a lot, and the people that give me trouble? The people who move, just a little. Seeing my orb of death sail by someone casually stepping left or right is so sad. But, it is super strong against rushers, and destroys supers, so... It's a trade off. Never ever rush a jotunn. Even in a super.
-
Ran into a guy abusing this gun couple days and he couldn’t hit me because I had high mobility and strafing left an right a lot

2 RespostasAs the owner of a jotunn, if you stand still or run at me, you are toast. If you are actively straffing and jumping while getting in close, I probably won't hit you. You aren't going to like what I have to say, but generally the good players avoid it and the bad ones get killed by it.

I am still trying to figure this out myself...as well as how to counter 1k voices...

1 ResponderEditado por Hazuki: 1/14/2019 8:32:40 PMI've heard this question alot, and I've played against this in Gambit and tested it's tracking as the victim in Private Matches. First of all, it's important to know the strengths and weaknesses of the weapon, which follow (if you wish to skip these points, then go right ahead but it's always good to have more knowledge): Weaknesses
-Tarter Sauce Joe has an 800 or so charge time, which is quite long. This means if someone misses their shot or you successfully dodge it, the animation leaves them open for just enough time to be punished. Keep calm and land your shots and the engagement is all yours. Easy peasy. -The tracking isn't as aggressive as you might think. It's like a Shadowshot; the projectile curves, but doesn't really make any turns past a 30 degree angle or so. This makes it easier to dodge and punish the user firing the Saucey Shot for trying to give you something else when your Guardian wanted kechup.
Strengths (I like playing around this weapon's strengths, by the way; it teaches good movement habbits for pretty much every situation, just putting that out there :D)
-The shots fired from this weapon travel surprisingly fast, so it can be a real pain in those closer ranges. -You hit that saucey dodgeball of death anywhere around its bosy and you can kiss that life goodbye. The size of the hitbox also seems to be... actually, I... can't really say for sure if the hitbox is 1/4, 1/3, or even 1/2 of guardian height... Just kidding, it usually falls between the 1/3 and 1/2 mark, which is still easily avoidable :3.
Okay, with this in mind, lemme go over the strategy I use against a player with Tarter Sauce Joe. (Also this goes without saying and I'll say it again because it needs to be said all the time: remember which players have tools that can put a dent in your playstyle)
Tarter Sauce Joe's Saucey Shots travel through the air like a paper airplane, which makes it fast (whoosh!), but also like a paper airplane the turns it can make are limited. So the goal here is to move sideways, forward, and past the Saucey Shot by tricking it into doing a fly-by hit without the hit landing. Start off on the ground when they fire the shot, and use a jump (and your movement ability if you need extra height when necessary) to change your vertical positioning from the ground to the air in a short amount of time. If you practice the timing enough and get a feel for the Saucey Shot's velocity, it'll go right past you like the jokes my friends tell me in the morning before I get coffee.
Whew, that was a lot of typing. I'm gonna rest my fingers now. Be well and have a good one, man :D

1 ResponderEditado por TheArtist: 1/14/2019 12:35:21 PMJotun is basically a high-impact fusion rifle with AoE damage. You counter the initial blast by 1. Recognizing that the game has mid-range, OHK weapons out there. So learn to look for the light, shone from the weapon. 2. Learn the sound of the most common fusion rilles when they're being charged up. 3. If you hear that sound or see that light, DISENGAGE and break line of sight. Accurately tracking someone moving at an angle to the target line is the hardest skill for a fusion rifle user to master....and its the one that takes the greatest amount of skill to pull off. Especially with a weapon with a long charge time. How to deal with the AoE damage? Spread out. A lot of people who are new to the franchise (joined for Destiny 2) developed a LOT of bad habits in PVP because special weapons were absent from the game last year....an only two people got power ammo at any time. So a lot of people got used to standing on top of one another and rolling around the map like Sonic the Hedgehog. Well Bungie is countering this by introducing a lot of new weapons and abilities designed to PUNISH that play style.

1 ResponderDon’t counter it , run straight into it . Go to it with fire and war moon and star .
-
2 RespostasStop playing crucible. Wait for the nerf.
-
2 RespostasWhen you check other players set-up, if you see that gun just back out. Ta-da! Sorted.
-
It’s a tracking rocket launcher with unrealistic ammo since it uses special and has a different look so it’s called something it’s not. You stop playing Crucible till everyone has it, it’s everyone’s issue, and Bungie goes “DUUURRR HOW DID THAT HAPPEN ?”
-
Just don't stay still, and avoid long lines of sight. Also, why is Izanagi's mentioned next to queensbreaker? It's probably nothing, but it sounds like your saying it's as easy to use as queensbreaker.

Literally don't know. Ran into it for the first time in crucible, in a comp match. Dude just sat far back and spammed that shit and every shot would track to use and kill us. Whether we
wanted it or not
were attacking the user or not, every time its just shoot, hide, profit. Special Ammo? Well yes, but if you consider that this person gets at least 2 kills every time, and then the rest of the time rushes and cleans us up, then he is guranteed the special ammo. And this process is just repeated. Its -blam!-ing ridiculous to me right now. I don't know if I will find a way to counter it, as I did just encounter this for the first time but it makes me really mad that a gun like that just exists and is an rng exotic right now. -
You have to jump. If you dont have a hunter jump you have to actually think and be falling when they shoot otherwise you move too slow. Last second movements like fighting berserkers in Gears of War.
-
1 ResponderSeriously just jump and you win. You are probably overthinking it. Its mainly good for blindsiding folks or killing potatoes.
-
Rush with shotgun, stay behind cover or if you see them charging run behind cover, shoot them in the head when they're charging it, strafe and don't move in a straight forward line.
-
It’s just a grenade launcher. Never stay still and land your shots out of its effective range like anything else in the game.
-
1 ResponderMove 1/4 of an inch to your right or left and it’ll miss you, at least that’s what happens when I shoot it at someone within 30 meters. At long range it’s more consistent cuz the tracking actually kicks on
-
Just strafe into cover...
-
1 ResponderStop using the Valakdyn auto rifle. Use an auto rifle or pulse rifle with greater range. Uriel's Gift, Blast Furnace, Bygones, Breakneck, Go Figure are better options. For close range rapid fire use Antiope-D or the IKELOS shotgun. Stayed crouched to stay off other players radar. Sneak attack unaware opponents. Avoid stacks of players when matchmaking.
-
Either jump or sidestep. Its tracking is very weak and it needs a direct impact to kill.
