Hopefully this will bring back Joe Staten and we will see the story that Joe and Bungie originally wanted to tell with Destiny.

  • That’s not going to happen. Too much bad blood was created by the current ceo & the original founding members.

  • Yep, Parsons is going to drive that company straight off a cliff. If you really look at what his history is and compare it to what Bungie has done, it doesn't look like Activision had much to do at all with the big blunders of D2. But, people are going to keep thinking it was Activision the whole time. I think ATVI called it because they saw numbers tanking and knew the profitability was gone.

I think it was mutual, but we'll never know. 100% fact tho is Activision wouldn't have agreed had they seen potential.

I’m quoting this from an article. “There is a darker side to the fallout though. While Bungie were the main developers on Destiny and created the IP, they’ve been receiving help on the project since the beginning from both High Moon Studios and Vicarious Visions, two stellar Activision-owned teams. While these two departments used to create their own games, they’ve mostly been working as support for this franchise. So, with Activision as a whole making cuts across the board, and now with no active major project for them to help with, what becomes of these studios?” It turns out High Moon did the bulk of development on CoO: brought in at the 11th hour to save the dlc. Warmind: brought in as bungie hadn’t even started dev when the dlc should of been in final polishing stage. Forsaken: brought in as bungie were once again months overdue. With Vicarious Visions handling all the pc version dev & upkeep. That’s 2 entire studios brought in to bail bungie out. It’s obvious where the problem lies with Destiny, it’s bungie.

Bad management at bungo, 100%. That hasn't chained. It may have even just burned the franchise to the ground.

  • Thanks, didn't know that. But it really makes Bungie look even worse than I had thought. 700 people and they still needed significant help to crank out the small amount of content we got. We'll be reading about massive layoffs in the upcoming months.

It's a lose lose unless they have money banked. They need MORE staff having lost VV + HMS, but they've lost all incoming money from ACT so how can they pay staff? I'd guess D3 will now be out back to 2025 lol
