We know Bungie lied about XP, are they also lying about exotic drop rates?

After finding out about the XP lie, I’m now 99% sure that Bungie manipulated exotic/legendary drops. I believe they made it to where you have a higher chance to get items that you already have rather than new items which you’ve never seen, that’s why people have gotten sooooo many exotic duplicates. Many people have gotten the same exotic like 5 times in a row consecutively.. there’s no way in hell that that’s just bad luck from RNG, especially not when it’s happening to so many different people, something stinks with this system , and they’ve already shown that they’re both capable and willing to implement suspicious, dishonest features into the game without informing the public. I think they manipulated it so that you’ll spend more and more time grinding for these new exotics which you’ve never obtained before, but they made the chance for new item drops much lower than the items you’ve already unlocked so that you won’t get every item you want too quickly, all because they were too lazy to add a decent amount of unique exotics/legendaries and instead they artificially made the grind as long and drawn-out as possible (with little to no reward) in the hopes that such a time-consuming process will distract you from the blatant lack of content/end-game value. Basically, I think they’re relying solely on their bullshit RNG scam to keep you playing because they were lazy. *Edit: I can’t respond to all of the arguments individually so I’ll just respond to a few that I’ve seen in this edit, but I will also say that a lot of you need to actually read what I wrote, also, a lot of you need to calm down and not take my post so seriously since it’s only a THEORY and I never said I know for a fact that it’s true, I’m only wondering because Bungie has already proven to be dishonest and there are a lot of people who have had this problem, and also, a lot of you need to drop your snobby sarcastic intellectually superior attitudes, there’s a reason why the majority of people on this forum don’t take people seriously when they defend Bungie, it’s because you guys do it in the most snobby stuck-up way possible (well that and also because Bungie is scum and many people find it impossible to defend them), you don’t know how to argue without coming across as smug and arrogant. And some of you have said that this is tl;dr, well I have a lot of crackpot thoughts rattling around my addled brain and I like to write a lot, and I’m about to write a lot more with these responses so idk what to tell you, go read a dr. Seuss book or something “I already got every exotic.” Ok but many other people including myself have not. I’d bet that there are more people who have only gotten half or less of their exotics than there are people who’ve unlocked everything. I used to play like 20 hours a week and I still only have half of my class’ exotics and still can’t get some of the legendaries I’ve been farming for. And when did I say that Bungie made it impossible to get every exotic? I get that not EVERYBODY has had this problem, but I never said that they took ALL randomness out of the drops, I said that they made the chance for new items lower, meaning that Yes, you lucky ones still have a chance to get everything you want, but I’m asking if that chance was lowered by manipulating the drop rates to get more duplicates since there are so many people who have gotten a ridiculous amount of duplicates. I mean it’s not like it’s only a few people who’ve dealt with this. There have been a ton of posts about duplicates with 100+ upvotes. Just look at this past iron banner, how many people are complaining that they can’t get one helmet from the IB set but they can get 10 of the same weapon after like 50+ packages? Why did they put non-IB items in the loot pool? Some of this stuff is a little bit suspicious which is why I’m questioning all of it. “But there aren’t a lot of exotics and the engram drop rate is too high.” I also think the exotic engram drop rate is a little too high but again, there are a lot of people who have seen differently, some of them are lucky to get one engram per week (I used to get like 5 per week) and when they get all those duplicates, it makes the whole exotic grinding process quite frustrating and pointless. And in my experience, the amount of duplicates outweighs the high engram drop rate by far, and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. But either way that’s why I think they should do away with engrams all together, somebody in this thread already said it but there should be exotic quests instead, and also the drop chance should be much higher at the end of raids, nightfalls and heroic strikes. Also, I already said that there aren’t enough exotics, I already said that I think they manipulated the drops BECAUSE they were too lazy to add a decent amount of unique exotics/legendaries, they missed an opportunity to add a bunch of new exotics/legendaries, instead they only made a minimal amount and made them feel way less powerful than they did in D1, that’s why I believe they made it harder to get new items, because they don’t want you finding out too quickly that a lot of them are useless and there’s not that many of them to begin with, otherwise why would you keep playing to try and get those items? A higher chance for duplicates keeps you distracted which brings me to the next argument, “Why would they do this? What do they have to gain?” Not only are the exotics/legendaries lacking in quality and quantity, but this game as a whole is severely lacking in all content. There is almost no endgame value, the campaign is short and not nearly as amazing as they marketed it to be, the pvp was dumbed down, the subclass system was dumbed down, the weapon trait system was dumbed down, everything in D2 is just a downgraded version of its previous version from D1, this is a horrible sequel because sequels are supposed to show some kind of improvement or innovation and this game does the complete opposite. So what does this have to do with my post? I already said it in the original post, but Bungie knows how many people play just to farm for items that they want, they know how much RNG keeps people playing which is why it makes sense that they would want to manipulate it to where it takes longer to get items, especially since they did such a lackluster job on creating actual fun content, I think they wanted the grind to take as long as possible before you get an item that you want, it’s a cheap, lazy way to keep you playing so that you’ll be too distracted by your desire to finally get that item that you’ve been farming for 2 weeks, too distracted to realize how hollow the game really is. I’ve played MMOs, I get that the RNG grind is normal for this kind of game, but the problem arises when the developers rely too heavily on RNG to keep people playing, instead of - you know - actual content. This is why I think they marketed their decision to get rid of random weapon traits as “getting rid of RNG in Destiny.” It was another distraction method to keep you from realizing that not only is RNG still a big part of D2, but it’s really one of the only reasons to keep playing after you discover how empty the game becomes right after light level 260. Yes I know that boredom is subjective but again, I’m not the only person who feels this way, not by a long shot, the majority of this forum is complaining about how boring the game is after beating the campaign, it’s because D2 is just one big watered-down version of D1. Again, I have no hard evidence, it’s just a theory so calm down.
