I like to think of myself as a classical liberal and probably mostly as a conservative liberal. I'm pretty skeptical of humanity's capacity for anarchism. That said, Anarchists make some legitimate points. The one I can't really dispute is the fact that governments commit mass atrocities that no individual ever could. I can imagine corporations would behave just as despotically, but I don't know that and they've good reason not to. What I DO know, is that strong governments have the power to do terrible things and often do terrible things. That's probably the best argument for decentralization and possibly even anarchism. People are flawed and should be limited in their capacity to cause evil. Allowing any concentration of power necessarily leads to abuses of power.

How are government-sanctioned entities at all compatible with libertarian economic or moral theory? They aren't.
