Trials of Osiris Matchmaking Changes (IMO)

Trials of Osiris Matchmaking needs to be changed. The current system of heavily favoring the number of wins on a card is flawed and is being manipulated. Here are my reasons: (1) - Elite elimination guardians are farming the first three matches to increase their "ELO" score (2) - Elite elimination guardians are charging money to carry people to the lighthouse. ( I don't believe this was Bungie's intention with Trials of Osiris) (3) - Since money can be made with Flawless Trials passages, many more guardians are seeking extra modifications to their PS4/Xbox systems such as keyboard/mouse mods, hacking mods (aimbots), and specialized controllers. (I'm not too worried about the controllers, but they do add a slight advantage over the normal player) There are always going to be problems with matchmaking in someone's eye no matter what Bungie does, however, I feel that the matchmaking system should be more complex than simply matching good connections with similar wins on a scorecard, but also should not go to a purely skill based matchmaking system. How to Fix Matchmaking/Trials Issues (IMO) (1) - I believe that cards should not be able to be discarded or there should be a far more severe penalty for discarding them. 500 glimmer and 9 passage coins for a brand new fully loaded card is chump change to most people playing trials. By not allowing players the ability to discard their cards, it would eliminate the "ELO" farm which makes getting to 5 or 7 wins much more reasonable when you are not playing top 1-5% players the first two matches of Trials (Which happens often). If not being able to discard the Trials Ticket is too radical, the card could cost 5,000 Glimmer and increase the time needed to discard the card. I believe it is around 10s or so...increase it to 30s. If you do decided to discard your card, the next card will also cost 5,000 glimmer, however, if you finished your card the next card can be traded in for a new one with no charge. (2) - Guardians with multiple trips to the lighthouse (3 or more) in that weeks Trials of Osiris should be favored to play other guardians that have also been to the lighthouse that week (at least one trip). Basically, once you have been to the lighthouse with each character and after the bounties have been obtained for each character, the matchmaking system should attempt to find guardians with more skill. I feel that this hybrid of a system is completely fair and equitable. This hybrid matchmaking check wouldn't kick in until you have been flawless three times in a week. This would still keep Trials of Osiris competitive while helping to prevent the previously mentioned problems. Let me know what you think and if you would be in favor of changes like this or if you think Trials Matchmaking should stay the same. Please be constructive. EDIT: I see a few people that keep responding as if I'm pushing for SBMM or that I'm punishing good players. I am not pushing for SBMM. What I am pushing for only targets people after the 3rd flawless that week. It is not punishing good players by slightly adjusting who they play after they have gotten their rewards for the week. That is my opinion, if you disagree please leave a constructive response as to why it is punishing them or you. As another player stated below... The number of people playing Trials is very low. Any announced change to Trials in any form would bring a lot of people back to Trials which is good for the game. As a question to all that respond... How many times a week do you go flawless? Does a matchmaking system that slightly changes after three flawless victories really affect you that much? What is your purpose of playing after going to the lighthouse on each character?

    1. Farming the first 3 games only helps kd really not elo, you ran a stacked team and beat a team all with 1000 elo? You dont get much. 2. Paid carries shouldnt be a thing but its down to the person if they want to pay or not. 3. Modded controllers and aimbots etc...have nothing to do with matchmaking 4. Passages cant be discarded? What if you lose 2 before getting anywhere close to flawless? I now have to lose 2 more games just to be able to start again? 5. 30 seconds to discard it? Thats just not s good idea tbh and costing 5000? What about the people who lose alot? 5 passages and than they have to farm glimmar? 6. Matching flawless players with other flawless players isnt the right way to go...because a) it would take even longer for us flawless players to find a game. B) we shouldnt have to wait even longer because we made it. The way i look at it, someone has to play the good teams, just unforunate if its you 😊
