Now, aside from me not personally agreeing with it(because it negates 1000s of hours of gameplay for many people.)I've noticed lore discrepancies of this possible reset.
1.(How Could It Happen?) First, light being slightly drained isn't permanent(so this ruins that theory),the only way light being drained can effect us is
A.Instead our ghost doesn't have enough light to revive us.
B.We're completely drained of light, which is game over.
I covered this to explain why our ghost being damaged couldn't work. Now, I've heard that we could reset from our ghost being damaged. But, it could either be, our ghost is slightly damaged, which couldn't completely reset us. Or, our ghost is fatally damaged and we would die from being killed once. Another argument is losing our ghost, go talk to Eris about that.
2.(When Could It Happen?)I see it likely the City could be crippled or destroyed. The Cabal know to aim for the ghost and The Hive can drain our light. The Vex can trap us in time and maybe The Fallen know how to kill guardians(Taniks assassination of Andal Brask). But I bet Cabal or Hive is more likely( mostly because of that Cabal fleet coming straight towards this system and Oryx's sisters getting triggered or even Nokris).
So we'll say in this attack we are drained(dead) or maybe our ghost is damaged or drained(dead). But as I said before this couldn't work. So this strengthens the point.
That's all for now folks. Bungie could always just do that anyways. But, it is fun theorizing. Criticize me if I'm wrong. Bye.
Edit:Just a quick refresher, Destiny was originally going to be 10 years with our guardian.
Edit 2:Remember this http://venturebeat.com/2014/12/08/destiny-2-characters-carry-over/
Edit 3:I won't reply to everything, because some posts are just not thought out. Also, I know BUNGIE could just leave the lore for this, I said that in the original version too. Anyways, bye.
Edit 4:I've noticed a lot of people saying we could just make new characters. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm was simply addressing how people think our current characters could reset.

At this point retconing all this bullshit would be welcome. "Oh no the vex are altering the timeline" *poof* new characters, new story, new whatever

Amnesia after our ghost is destroyed. 😎

Editado por Qwerty: 1/13/2017 9:19:19 PMYou just up the ante. Have the Guardian crash land on Mercury, losing all their stuff Then have Osiris teach the ways of the Light by riding on the Guardian's back Boom, new and "more powerful" guardian that is at Prestige 1 Level 1 with nothing but more potential. Lift ship out of Doga...Mercury and fly back to the City to learn it was attacked and all your Vault is gone. Lore stupidity means nothing. Rogue One was made entirely to explain how the idiotic vent core was really purposeful - the exact same way they explained the Stormtroopers missing every shot. If Star Wars can get away with that, Destiny can get away with what video games have done for a decade.

3 RespostasThis post is much better when read in the voice of Professor John Frink.

My characters are going to commit suicide so it'll work for me ಠ_ಠ
jk
2 RespostasDarling lore wise it doesn't make sense in games where you have to relearn every skill when you start the sequel. It doesn't make sense why some features are removed. Our guns and levels aren't going to carry other, don't try make excuses why our levels and guns will need to be stronger, they won't carry over
-
1 ResponderYou guys need to learn what lore means. Anyways, it's a simple fix for your issue. New characters. The end.

My characters are going to commit suicide so it'll work for me ಠ_ಠ
jk bro
-
All I can say is if this comes to pass then there will be dark time I ahead for us as our guardians
-
1 ResponderIt makes total sense, make new characters. And if the City gets destroyed at any point we've lost. 99% or more of humanity's incredibly limited population lives there. The City falls and we go extinct within a few generations.
-
5 Respostasi dont think the lore explains why we can get only 1 rng box every week from the first strike either. or why we killed all the raid bosses 100+ times. or why we killed the archon priest a million times. its a new game, it has nothing to do with lore. if they just copy paste what we already have then theres no reason to even buy it. with the way the game works now we will never have a good story, patrol or anything. not to mention the bland subclass builds. i hope they overhaul a lot of things and get a lot more of rpg elements in the game.
-
2 RespostasI think it will one of these or a combination: 1. I figure we will be pushing out further into the solar system. Our light becomes weaker we must learn new abilities that we can use so far from the Traveler. So new subclasses and level 40 doesn't mean anything this far from the light. 2. The new enemies are so powerful we most learn new ways to wield the light. And start the path to learn the subclasses. Maybe sacrificing our light to discover the new subclasses. 3. D2 starts at level 40 and goes up to 60 or 80. And you have to learn new subclasses because the old ones won't cut it for what we're dealing with. Whether or not we start at level 0, your character model will go forward and there will be 2-3 new subclasses or reworked subclasses. Still void, solar and arc though. This is all speculation. Gear will be locked to D1 but you might be able to view it in game. I'm not really worried about the level stuff, Bungie will figure it out.
-
1 ResponderWe won't know a thing until it is out. Hopefully they keep older subclasses. I love gunslinger.

Editado por GrundleBeans: 1/12/2017 8:55:42 PMLiterally anything could happen. Many possibilities discredit these theories that are based on lore, because lore only focuses on the past and present. What is known, not what is unknown. Bungie could introduce an enemy so powerful, or with a unique power we haven't encountered before that it a) attacks the city and kills everyone and their ghosts, so we start as new characters that weren't in the city, b) can take our light and kills us, and then right after that we "start over" by being completely separate characters on Saturn (the new area planned) who haven't encountered this enemy yet and now we quest to find ways to defeat/protect ourselves from this new Darkness enemy with new powers, c) a new enemy appears and strips our current powers (i.e. our "reset") and we have to obtain new ones. Or hell, maybe the new enemy is just POWERFUL, and our classes/subclasses just aren't powerful enough to combat it, so we either have to pick one of our characters, consolidate all our grimoire, emblems, shaders, etc. to that one and then find new powers. Or nothing about our characters or their inventories changes and we just have to add/replace our subclasses with new ones. Whatever the reasons, a reset could have no conflict with lore whatsoever.
-
A clean slate needs to happen if this game is going to become what we all want it to be. They will and have figured out a way to do that and I'm excited to see what is in store for us.
-
If we 'lose' our stuff, that would be fine by me.
-
Maybe you're another guardian that is awakened because we get corrupted at the end of D1 and the Traveller exposes himself as the darkness? A Restart always works if the storytellers want.
-
1 ResponderI'm all for a complete reset it think it will be healthy for the game.
-
2 options that easily fit with the lore: Prequel Different set of guardians based somewhere else
-
1 ResponderPokémon Theory anyone?

3 Respostaswhat if 2 months before destiny 2 comes out, destiny 1 has some catastrophe with the tower and it literally is destroyed by something (vex, cabal, fallen, hive or some other entity), we can continue to run some missions surrounding this to take back the tower but, eventually, and inevitably we loose, the tower is completely destroyed and destiny 2 comes out and we continue with a fairly new story, missing all of our items.. transfering a character with no gear, weapons or materials... doesn't mean we take much does it..
-
The two options I can see them doing is having your character die or the same character but stripped of weapons and gear.
-
Latest news is our guardian will be remembered, which likely means something like your grimoire score will come over and that's it
-
1 Responder200+ replies and zero likes, that's a new one on me.
-
From recent "leaks" we will infact keep our characters but our gear and weapons will not come along with us
-
It can easily be done. A stripped back to nothing is the easiest part of any sequel. Especially with the hint of the secret faction that wants to bring down the other factions and retake the tower. It can actually add more to the connection to ones protagonist as well... I feel there will be a final part of destiny leading to the release of the continuation. It makes the most sense.
