Someone said that they want it changed so the game doesn't feel "sweaty" and they can relax.. This baffles me because, this says to me that you want to play with people with less skill than you or who don't try as hard so you don't have to either. Do you want to do this just to mess around and have fun? Or do you want to play with them so you can have a better score and do better in games? Like are you people angry that there are other people who know how to play the game and who just might be better than you that are on the other team? I'm all for fixing connection issues but the issues these people are stating they want to have changed make no sense. Or maybe I just don't get it.. I don't understand at all

  • I would like to see 2 different playlist. One of them ranked and one casual. The casual one does not record any stats at all, wouldn't be able to see it anywhere. That's the only way I see there won't be pub stomping and k/d farming. It would be a mode for practice and testing out new things. Check my last few game on my hunter, pretty much all negative. I suck with the night stalker in pvp and I'm just using NS for the thorn quest. You think I was having fun getting my ass handed to me every round, instead of having fun which i usually do and don't care about my K/d.

  • I don't play Destiny PvP, but what people are saying is: SBMM with servers, like say Halo 5 = good. SBMM without servers, like Destiny = bad. One option for SBMM, one "casual", again like Halo (let's say 3,here) = good all round. It really is that simple. If you played Halo 3, you'd know the marked difference if you played ranked (SBMM) and social (casual, CBMM). Not everyone who wants rid of the current SBMM system wants to trounce lower skilled players, they just want to have fun being daft shooting people in the face without having to care about stats, etc. Yeah? Yeah.

  • I guess it depends on one's goals in playing games, really. I know I will never be competitive in any game. Checkers, candy land, hopscotch, Halo, Destiny-- I suck and always have, always will. I can't even win a participation trophy. But being a mopey, misanthropic loser-type guy, I don't socialize much, as you can imagine. Destiny was one of the very few areas of my life where I not only made a few friends, but actually had fun with them sometimes. I have a great group of guys I used to play with. As sad as it is to say, logging in to Destiny was usually the high point of my day because I knew I'd get to hang out with people I liked that could also tolerate me. But it finally just got too hard, especially PvP. I could feel my friends' frustration with my consistently terrible performance growing every wipe in a raid or every Iron Medallion they all picked up because I just couldn't stop giving the other team points. So I felt like I had to quit to salvage any shred of that precious human contact I'm lacking and seem to need. Now if Destiny were "easy" enough for me, it would probably be boring for them, I suspect, so there's probably not a good solution here either way unless they could somehow implement a reliable "handicap" system for players as unskilled as I. Pretty sure that would be abused and end up a disaster though so in the end I guess your point is right-- there's no good to come from easing the challenge and folks like me who can't hack it should probably just find another way to pass the time.

  • What this boils down to is just wanting to have fun. I know people who are way better than me. They don't want to feel like they're entering into an organized tournament everytime they get on to play. Sometimes they just wanna jump on with friends, have a good time, and use whatever weapons they want. They want to be able to go into crucible and have a fun time and win matches as well as lose the occasional match without being forced to enter in with a full fireteam in order to win. With the way SBMM works it forces good players to either try their absolute hardest in every match, use the same guns every match, and load in with a full fireteam almost 24/7. If you don't do that you're pretty much going to have the odds against you. It takes the fun out of the game when every game is placing you against super tryhards. Especially when some people are just naturally good at PVP. It basically punishes you for being good.

  •
They want to be able to go into crucible and have a fun time and win matches as well as lose the occasional match

But removing it means, the rest of the population now loses most games, with only the occasional win... Which in my case, as a less skilled pvp player happens already.... and you wish to make it worse ??

  • This is not true in the slightest. With CBMM skill is not an issue. Teams are formed with players based on connection not skill. Which means you can easily get into a game with complete scrubs. Is there a possibility that you can get into a game with some really good players? Absolutely. But to assume every game you join will be filled with players better than you is just insane. With a mix in players every single team should have both good and bad players, essentially making the games balanced and fair for both sides.

  • 1
Wrong. The rest of the population theoretically should have an even win to loss because you get a while mix up of skill levels. People have this weird idea that as soon as sbmm is removed bad players will deliberately be placed against good players, that's wrong. There is a mix of different skill levels in each game.

  • Hell yes I want to play with less skilled players all the time. Because why not, stop trying to put people down with your idea that we will destroy some because I want to have a fun and enjoyable match of destroying some people because I myself have been put into too many losing matches and it's getting tiring. I'd love to be on the winning side for once just to see what it feels like, because of Bungies sbmm has prevented me from ever winning more matches. I have been in so many losing matches because games where lagged or I was fill to the losing team. Sorry to get you upset but I am just tired of the same matches outcome. I'm also tired of carrying a losing team while being top of the leaderboard, and the game giving me terrible players against full teams I'm just saying there needs to be consistency with which type of players your giving me, but Bungie is giving me players with no thumbs most matches and I'm practically carrying some losing teams when I decide to go full try hard load out mode

  • You contradict yourself in this comment proving just how little you actually know and how much you just feel entitled to a win no matter what you use. If you want to "Have fun" then equip what you want and just play. If that's your true motivation there's no reason to change anything but it's not your true motivation so you attempt to create a feasable excuse so you can play easier matches to artificially inflate your stats

  • Unskilled below average IB player and out of 14 matches maybe lost 5 or so. Im not even sure what the objective was to stay with a group at flag posts or run solo like a headless chicken. Losing did suck kinda and I started to wonder how those others felt and if the matchmaking put me with the winning due to my connection or what metric.

  • Honestly it's best to stick with a group, run with 2 or 3 to make it intimidating for the other player that's by themselves, I usually try to run Defender in Iron Banner with suppressor grenades because it definitely helps when you got lots of enemy people on B or A for example helps to cancel their pesky grenades. Just got to go with the flow keep moving around and see any Guardians and try to help them out

  • TripleWreck has a video on that argument, he doesn't want every match to be sweaty. Welcome to what average players feel every match unless sbmm is there. Granted we need connection fixed or improved but sbmm should be dialed back anytime the player base drops

  • SBMM does not work with out servers... simple, it handy caps the competitive game types such as IB and Trials to a point where skill has nothing to do with SOME of the wins as much as connection has to do with it. Which is ironic.

I believe I can elaborate on this. What that person more than likely meant was that they want to play a good game where it doesn't feel like you're being steamrolled. Imagine jumping into an Iron Banner game when you just want to solo a match or two and get decent loot while at the same time contributing towards your team. Now picture that your team is just a bunch of randoms who just want to play the match and the enemy team is a well-coordinated clan that has endgame armor and weapons that could be described as falling into the meta category. Basically, your average try-hard match that you'd expect from Iron Banner or Trials. When you jump into a regular Control, Clash or even a Classic 6v6 game and end up dealing with that where you feel like you can't enjoy a decent win or loss because you keep going against an entire clan or group, it gets old real fast. A casual and decent match, regardless of the win or loss, should feel like you can play however you want and not feel like you're being penalized for not meeting up to skill expectations. Kinda like Rumble. This is all the more reason why a ranked playlist for the more hardcore PvPers is a must as it can help put both types of players out of each others strangling distance. Teams that wanted to brush up on their team coordination would be able to pit themselves against other teams instead of going full-on pubstomping on the regular Crucible lobbies and players who want to just play a match or do bounties could do so without having to worry that the Olympic Gaming and Crossfit team from Sweden would jump in. You'd hear less complaints and it would be easier for the Bungie dev team to figure out which actual weapons need to be buffed or nerfed since they want to be more serious in regards to the competitive multiplayer aspects of Destiny.

  • They should just go back to ranked and social playlists where social is pure SBMM and ranked is a combination of the 2
