Or we could approach it from a different angle.....
Quit tracking and displaying K/D for all Crucible modes except Elimination and Trials. This way they don't have to protect their stat/ego with 1 shot kills and can just relax and have fun.

This. Give all characters a 6v6 and 3v3 rank that shows next to their name whenever they're in one of the respective playlists. Everything else becomes a casual game mode. No user accessible stats tracked. Period.

Good thinking! One way or another we need to create a PVP mode that is for fun and messing around with different load outs, new weapons, and combinations without being in a full sweat at all times.

...that's actually probably a good idea. Either that, or bring in a ranked playlist where you can track such a thing, and then another playlist where no stats are tracked.
