A breakdown of the mistakes Bungie repeated, which they promised they would not repeat

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Destiny-House-Wolves-DLC-Fix-Dark-Below-Biggest-Mistakes-69657.html Before House of Wolves came out, Luke Smith made a statement about how the biggest mistakes made in The Dark Below would not be repeated. At the time, this was true. House of Wolves rectified some of the biggest things like exotic resets, gear invalidation, and barriers to making gear usable. I was thinking back on this article today and it occurred to me that just about every mistake they mentioned in that article was repeated in The Taken King.
Crota's End drop rates are much improved vs. Vault of Glass
Just wanted to point this one out before I dig into the good stuff. they improved the drop rates for CE after seeing how bad they were in VoG. Yet they went back to garbage drop rates in King's Fall.
Players who completed Vault of Glass couldn't appreciate their loot because it was rendered obsolete by gear offered by vendors
Huh, I can't think of one other time they did this. Can you?
Requiring players to reset talents on their Exotic weapons when upgrading also didn't work out too well
And how is making players repurchase them with marks (then re-level them) any different?
Many players found themselves stuck at level 29 because of the poor loot system
Poor loot system? Say it ain't so. Not like I was ever stuck just shy of max level based on shit luck in TTK or anything.
Our philosophy about rewards/loot continue to evolve as we see how players play and react
I feel ya Luke. Like if players are enjoying their loot too much, you gotta press the reset button and hand them lame ass reskins in the next DLC.
lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster
There's no way in hell he actually said that. Lessen the grind? For real? You mean to tell me that you lessened the grind by making the level of your raid loot random, and by letting you level up fractions of a light point at a time?
Shards are a are a barrier between you and equipping a sweet new piece of gear. We want fewer barriers to equipping upgrades
You know what else is a barrier between you and equipping a piece of gear? An infusion system that requires you to pick out things to dismantle in a certain order in order to make one piece usable.
we don't want to invalidate player effort (again)
No, of course not. Never. I know some of these things were addressed in the April update, and for that I'm grateful. Props to the team for making some of these much needed, much asked for improvements to the game. They really make the game playable. I appreciate the effort to make this game better. But my point in this post is -- why does Bungie continue to make the same mistakes? Why do they wait so long to do something about them? The infusion system was called out for its bullshit not too long after the launch of TTK. There was talk of bad drop rates after the first week. What the actual -blam!-, man. This has been another Kabr complaining post. Thanks for reading.
