Speaking as a Striker Titan main, I LOVE shoulder charge. ;) This is my favorite move in PvP and I also use it frequently in lower level PvE situations. I completely understand where you're coming from, though. Shoulder Charge is a cheap move in PvP. It does take skill to use effectively, and it does have its weaknesses, but it provides easy kills a lot of the time. That being said, each class has at least one cheap mechanic that can be complained about. As you pointed out earlier, warlocks have access to an over-shield melee attack they can use. Hunters have shade-step and essentially two grenades (if you count smoke). With each class in "Destiny" having at least one cheap mechanic available to them in PvP, it balances things out, it's a balance of cheapness. What matters most is: 1) Finding which class is your fave in crucible. 2) Mastering your move-set, including the cheap ones. 3) Become fully aware of the move-set of your opponents and the situations in which they're most likely to use them. 4) Think of ways to either counter those cheap moves OR put yourself in a situation where their use of a cheap move is risky. I'll give you an example against my Striker Titan. 1) This is my fave class in Crucible because I love shoulder charge, I love regaining health with my melees, and I love getting up close & personal; this is my ideal subclass. 2) Done. Ideally I try to kill with shoulder charge, charged melees to regain health, and a shotgun. Pros: Close in, I'm deadly. Con: Mid-to-far range, I'm dead. 3) Hunters and Warlocks have access to moves, either through evasion (shade-step) or defense (over-shield melee) to negate my shoulder charge. It is also advantageous to me if my enemy fires upon me with anything other than a shotgun. If they use a shotgun they can instantly shut me down, while I can usually close distance against any other gun before it kills me. 4) Counters: Hunters can shade-step out of the way. Warlocks can over-shield melee as I'm rushing them (which has worked against me before). Both require some good timing but are possible. Shotguns are also HIGHLY effective at shutting down rushing Titans; they are the #1 weapon I die to in crucible while rushing. Strategies: On small maps, or maps with tight corridors like Anomaly, I own. On large maps, like First Light, I'm weak. I can also easily be countered on small or tight maps with a shotgun. Every class, and even subclass, can be broken down thusly. I understand if you only like playing in crucible a particular way, and you want that one way to translate well against all opponents in all situations, and if you're good enough maybe you can make that happen, but try to differentiate your strategies based upon the makeup of your opponents and you may find yourself having more success and fun. I don't care as much about strategy or winning, I just play for legendary marks and fun, so I just run in and smash. ;)
