I'm a sniper and I pretty sure most shotgunners die all the time. My opinion is that shotguns are much easier to get kills with which is why people gravitate to them.
With that being said, I do believe it's extremely difficult to be a "good" shotgunner. Perhaps even more difficult than being a good sniper.
I personally despise shotguns, and if I don't snipe, I'd rather use a fusion or sidearm before a shotgun.

It is my opinion that snipers are much easier to get kills with and that is why people gravitate towards them. The only difference between a shotgunner and a sniper is playing style. Some like to sit back, some like to rush. But they're both the same person.

I disagree. If you can melee someone you can shotgun. Sniping takes careful aiming and position. If you give someone who's never played a FPS before a shotgun one game and a sniper the next. I will guarantee they will get more kills with thier shotgun. With that being said, I am giving you the point that it is more difficult to be a good shotgunner than a good sniper. The nature of a sniper rifle is to do damage from far away. This is why it's easier to be sniper overall. The nature of a shotguns I'd to make killing EASY. Where shotgunning get hard is managing risk/reward and avoiding death.
