I thought it was an okay movie. I don't understand how a guy who had at least some jedi training, who could choke people with the force and stop blasters in mid air, was able to be fended off briefly by an ex stormtrooper, and then be essentially beaten by an untrained girl. I hated Kylo Ren.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the plot, given it was basically a new hope, but I guess I can let that slide. I also felt like Han's death was cheap. I thought it was stupid how the Snoke guy or whatever had to have a gigantic hologram in what was built like a throne room.
Also, is the girl so powerful that she's able to develop her force abilities to the point of the "Jedi Mind Trick" with no training at all? That just felt really forced to me. I don't get what the point was of the shiny stormtrooper either. She didn't really do much of anything.

He has such a great use of the force, yet can't best these untrained, rather pathetic, heroes.
I hated Kylo Ren.
I didn't until I saw he was a pasty pale angsty whiney teenager with daddy issues. Then I hated him.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the plot, given it was basically a new hope, but I guess I can let that slide.
I could care less, but having essentially a third Death Star is getting a little repetitive. At least this one was harder to destroy.
I also felt like Han's death was cheap.
Yup. I read somewhere how he died nobly to save his friends but look at this. Kylo Ren probably wouldn't be there if it weren't for Han. He also died... How again? Going up to the Dark Lord/son who hates his guts, walking super close to him on an extremely unsafe bridge, pointing the light saber at himself, and then being surprised that his son killed him. How was that a noble heroic death?
I thought it was stupid how the Snoke guy or whatever had to have a gigantic hologram in what was built like a throne room.
Disney just wanted to do some big grand gesture or something. Just watch him actually be Yoda sized.
Also, is the girl so powerful that she's able to develop her force abilities to the point of the "Jedi Mind Trick" with no training at all? That just felt really forced to me.
Yeah, this is the same girl who didn't believe in the force until after she met Han? But that means she only learned about the force for maybe a few days maximum (betting more on a few hours) before capture. She then suddenly masters it: able to ward off Kylo Ren and actually feel his emotions. Also testing a Jedi mind trick on a hunch that it might work. Don't you have to actually train for that though? It isn't just saying something and hoping it works? Also, how does she even know about Jedi mind tricks if she just learned about the force and that she might have it? She also conveniently knew to clear her mind during the fight. How exactly? She mastered the force faster than Anakin ("strongest Jedi" ever) and Luke (supposedly stronger than Anakin/Vader).
I don't get what the point was of the shiny stormtrooper either. She didn't really do much of anything.
I swear, I was so excited for a badass stormtrooper character and was severely let down. She literally did nothing and even chickened out when they had a blaster to her head. You know what any other Star Wars character would do at that moment? Trigger an alarm or lock it down permanently. She sucks for shutting it off and is all in all useless. They need to give her importance in the next movies. As well, and this is just me and growing up on the originals, I believe Phasma would've been a cooler character as a dude. I'm hoping she proves me wrong in the next movies, but I can't seem to get into the character just because of what I'm used to. All said and done, great movie.
