So let's be honest. Hammer of Sol is broken period. Now this post is not a rant. I think every class should feel strong, viable and fun but let's face it Hammer of Sol is broken.
Here's why:
- Highest armour of all supers (can survive sniper head shots, shotguns and golden gun)
- Ranged, AoE explosive attack that has tracking, grenades and horseshoes and can be easily spammed. It also has no damage drop off at range and also has the option to leave sun spots providing zone control and more AoE damage.
- Longest duration of all slayer type supers. (Able to activate, run to other side of the map and kill the whole team with plenty of super energy left)
- Reliable health regen or over shield depending on how you spec.
How is that balanced? Before people start posting comments like "git gud scrub" please have a good think about it and be honest. Hammer of Sol combines nova bomb, golden gun and arc blade while eliminating all their weaknesses. If I was a Titan main I would be offended that Bungie made such an OP super for my class. It's like they think Titans have no skill so they give them a God mode super.
It will inevitably get nerfed and is well deserved but I think the super shouldn't be nerfed into the ground. The armour should be the same as arc blade so there is meaningful counter play and the hammer fire rate should be decreased so that you have to actually aim and time your hammers instead of rolling your face all over the controller and watching the whole enemy team die.
If someone can provide some solid reasons for why this is balanced that would be great.
Tin foil hat time
So how did Hammer of Sol even get past the game testers in this state? Ever notice how every nerf favours Titans? My theory is that the play testers have no idea what they are doing and the majority of the crucible dev team main Titans. Titans complain that they have to use FoP to kill a blade dancer. It gets nerfed. Titans complain about arc bold and fire bolt grenades and they get nerfed. Titans complain about blink and blink gets nerfed but all of a sudden after warlocks and hunters get nerfed they give Titans Hammer of Sol?
1 ResponderOk. I'm going you give you facts.
-Highest armor argument. Sure it survives a high impact sniper, but you have a sliver and I mean a sliver of health. 2 shotguns flanked will kill. Chaperones perk active and headshot is 1 shot. 2 shots from golden gun. Takes 2 shots to break Ward of Dawn yet nobody complains (except the defenders) -Ranged Super argument. The tracking is seriously non existent. It's a waste. Grenades and horseshoes? We don't have that, but we do have combustion. It has a travel time. You know what that means? You can blink out of the way and run from it. Fist of Havoc, Showstopper, Solar grenades, and Nova bomb have AoE too. It can only be spammed 7 times with forge master perk. 5 without. Less if no one is around because they are running away -Travel across the map argument. Nah but close. No where near a bladedancer with blink and melee spamming in air to reach the other side however -Health regen argument. Bladedancers have this too, and on a more reliable melee not just with super. Strikers have it if we can kill with it. If sunbreakers kill with HoS, it starts the regen. 1 bullet stops that regen asap. Overshield is just as strong as Defenders Force Barrier but he has to be standing still and it lasts 4-5 seconds
. It's a long rebuttal. But here are some tips to shut down the super you think is OP -tether -suppressor grenades -singled out and focus fired by guns -last word (yep) -smoke bomb/envenom/lock down -fist of havoc -nova bomb -arc blade -2 golden gun shots -stormtrance -shotgunned in armor of light bubble -running away and funnel out

1 ResponderIf hammer of sol is ever going to be nerfed, its not because its op its because there is so many people crying about it.

I think the super is pretty balanced just needs a little less health/drama he reduction

3 RespostasSupers are meant to be something that cannot (well most of the time) combated with normal weapons and tactics. In year one things like Bladedance were combatted with a headshot from a sniper, a shotgun and melee, but aside from that it took most of your team laying into them to kill them. As much as people don't like to admit it, that was Balanced. Even with Hungering Blade. Titan Smash, extremely difficult to avoid, oneshot to any class in any ability except itself, however it could only be used once. That's balanced. The problem people have with those supers is that people would pop them and kill them and they felt there was nothing they could do but complain and claim it's unfair and they took no skill to use. Nova Bomb was pretty much a ranged Titan Smash except much easier to avoid and Warlocks could be killed during it even wearing the helmet that gave them extra armor. Golden Gun have hunters three shots with the option to add Combustion for a small explosion that would kill anybody within a couple foot radius. The range could be adjusted to make it able to cross map which made it very good. It was also super effective at shutting down Ward of Dawn. However, if did not grant bonus armor which kept the user easy to kill. Now that it's year 2 we have 3 new supers to complain about but u won't ramble. Hammer of Sol has almost as much armor as Strikers do while using their Fist of Havoc. The range of their hammer is extremely long and one shots almost anybody. The super itself lasts extremely long which makes it even better. However, the problem lies with the fact that it shuts down every single other super in the game with the exception of Fist of Havoc. Which is no fun to use. Meaning it's broken. There is no way around it, and calling people scrubs and forming cliques does nothing to help defend or attack it. The super simply has to have less armor and have each hammer throw consume more of the supers charge. That would balance it and put it right in line with every other super ability and give almost 0 reason to complain about it, even though people would find a reason to. Sorry for the long af post I just wanted to provide some history on the subject.

Alright, honestly Hammer of Sol is fine.
-
You sound like a little girl. I bet your father is upset that his boy it's turned out to be a non sport playing forum crying over a super in a game little girl. This shits getting old. Stop telling bungie to change their game. Gtfooh
-
Titans have a solid class. Their class is built for the hammer of sol. Not an overall class. It's perfectly fine. And Titans have ward of dawn. That can't kill a thing. It's fair they have a strong super
-
Titans are supposed to be Tanky, just because you can't play your class or classes correctly doesn't mean you have to ruin it for someone else.
-
2 RespostasThe hammer is sol is not op. The titan class was made for TANKING of course its going to have allot of armor. Yes, on paper It sounds very overpowered but I am not going to say it is. Its an extremely versatile super. Honestly your problem is you shouldnt be taking sunhammers head on. Play smart and just run tf away or tell ur team to focus fire on the hammer. Now please just stop complaining about sunhammers
-
3 RespostasOh please. It doesn't have the range of golden gun, it shoots at an arc and the tracking is completely unreliable. After a year of crap melee and no blink titans finally become viable in pvp and these children start crying nerf. Enough.
-
Titans are already inherently nerfed by the people who play them, kek. You can tell that this is the case because a) DestinyDB stats show that titan subclasses have the worst KDR; b) These people choose to play a subclass with a great super but mediocre neutral game. Any player worth their salt knows neutral game > super. So yeah, probably doesn't need a nerf.
-
1 ResponderRunning to other side of map kill team and have time left. Exaggerate much?

I don't care what you say you are a Crybaby

2 RespostasWhy do u people always complain ? Can u just play the damn game and stfu. All of u complaining sound like little damn babies! Either learn how to play with the big boys or go play mickey mouse. Daaamn!!!

2 RespostasIts not even broken to begin with. I explained this on many posts and I hope I really don't have to do it on this one either

4 RespostasSome details people miss out on is that if a super such as that would be easy to shut down the super itself would suck. Unlike bladedancer, sunbreaker does not have the ability to rapidly advance and change directions suddenly like a bladedancer does. This gives the bladedancer the ability to dodge enemy fire and other such damage. Another thing is that both other classes have blink giving them far more evasiveness than titans. If the sunbreaker were to have less armor, it would be too easy to kill unlike other "berserk supers" (ex. Bladedancer and stormcaller). The health regeneration on the sunbreaker is generally the same perk on bladedancer so no problem here. The hammers were given tracking as a perk because of the difficulty to hit an enemy in midair unlike the bladedancer which autolocks melee attacks. To conclude, I believe that the sunbreaker is no more than a tanky, ranged bladedancer who is meant to be slow and have bad evasion to make up for so much health.
-
Bungie most likely did it on purpose just to get more people playing as titans blaaa
-
Editado por Onion Reaper: 10/4/2015 1:09:57 AMAlgood, give sunbreaker blink and increased agility and I'll be happy with four gg style hammers (set time, hammers can be thrown till four or time runs out) and blade dancer armour. Ps: that would make them more annoying btw.

5 RespostasOh my god, the ignorance. Not going to tell you to get good, but hear me out. Every nerf only APPEARS to favor titans because Titans up until TTK were shitty as hell in PVP. They had no reason to be nerfed. Hunters, on the other hand, had plenty. You keep saying "Titans complain about X" but for god's sakes, Titans were not the only ones complaining. HoS has about 3-5 seconds too much duration. Literally nothing else is wrong with the super. It does not have "grenades and horseshoes" on it whatsoever, or I would have died many times to HoS. Ofc is has the highest armor. Something will always have the highest of something, and besides that, it's a damn Titan super. Titans always have armor on their super. I don't get why it's so difficult to land two shots on a HoS user to kill him. Hell, they don't tank everything unless they have absolute max armor, and even then, they had to sacrifice Recovery and Agility for it. Meaning, they are slow as dirt and take forever to get health back (unless they get a kill with HoS, I know...). Bladedancers can tank a hammer in their super. Titans haven't bitched about that yet. Hunters build Agility and Recovery primarily, so ofc they wouldn't see the benefits of Armor. Yes, the timer is a bit long, but running around the map severely lowers the hammers you can throw. And the perk is what's allowing them to throw seven. And perk is allowing them to track. Basically, HoS is a class devoted their super. Of course it should be strong. It can't be compared to GG because GG travels pretty damn fast and is precise. Not to mention it is much easier to snipe with GG than HoS. And for those saying you get 3 shots and therefore 3 kills max, combustion and keyhole are perks. Like how HoS uses perks to make itself better. You guys can use perks to get multiple kills. Hell, I somehow got 2 kills with one GG shot without the perks, dunno how. Basically, they could stand to knock down about 16-20% of the super timer, which would fix roaming and the number of hammers thrown to 4-6, the 6 being if they just spammed the hell out of the super without running, and the 4 if they did run. The armor is fine. They do not get 10 or so hammers, who ever says this is also ignorant.
-
Finally someone that explain it right, thanks
-
Here's my thing, yes Titans have an OP super... But the super is the only thing that's OP. Their grenades are below average, and their melee is underwhelming in the crucible. Their passive a don't give you any skills to make the grenades or melee a better, they just enhance your super. So while you have an amazing super, the subclass in general is not OP.
-
5 RespostasEditado por FluffyBuffalo22: 10/4/2015 12:37:45 AMI just think you can't make the armour the same as arc blade, because you would get sniped before you could throw a hammer. They would need an agility boost

2 Respostas
longest duration (able to activate, run to other side, kill everyone)
a storm caller with transcendence and ionic blink can get TWO whole team wipes
