How do you know it's a she? How do you know it's not evil? The Disciples of Osiris have it right. The original story which had the Traveler as evil was simply stretched out over a couple games. Looking at early concept art for The Black Garden, you will see that it is round. This is because The Black Garden was originally the Traveler's Heart. My theory is that the Traveler was gonna leave the Humans in ruins like they did the Fallen, but Humanity was able to disable it, hence all the damage on it.

I don't believe it's stated anywhere that he believes the Traveler is evil. As for the damage to the Traveler and how it was disabled, I believe after a lot of reading (much of which is AnonPigs writings) that it was Rasputin that launched warheads to prevent the Traveler from leaving, thereby forcing it to stay and help against the Darkness. I believe the Traveler was ready to run in fear of what was/is coming and in order to save humanity, Rasputin had to decimate much of the population and disable the Traveler in its effort to fend off the Darkness the first time. I don't think it directly says that Osiris thinks the traveler is evil. If so he would just be in the trinity star cult not make a cult of his own. He just questions the darkness. He was kicked out of the tower because of this
