I hate how terrible the story is.
Remember the part where the stranger asks your ghost, "have you heard of the black garden?"
And your stupid dumbass ghost is like, "yeah we've heard of it"
I was like
"No I -blam!-ing haven't heard of it you stupid twat. Stop assuming I know the goddamn story and ACTUALLY TELL THE STORY"

The idea is, infer that there is an expansive story. There is not one. Infer that the story will slowly be revealed with "lore cards." That way you never need to make an actually story. it's evidence that there probably isn't one coming. If people don't make a fuss, which no one is because they are too busy playing non-story events, about the lore cards and just accept it then they can make D2 another D1 with your standard sequence of shiny new upgrades, enemies, and events. What reason do they have to make a story? Would they see that big of an increase in play time? Think about their options, spend $$$$$$ on a story and hope we like it or spend $$ and release these super rare "treasure keys" and guarantee a huge increase in play hours that they can brandish in the next update. Story is a thing of the past when you can use psychology to get people playing.

Everyone knows about it, it's a myth.
-
The story is so thin because of that whole "Become Legend" whatnots. You're supposed to make your own story sort of, even though it's kind of hard to. Use your imagination or some shit.

And also, the first mission with hive in it, my ghost was all like, there's some hive up ahead, and I'm like, "who the blam are the hive?" I've played through the whole campaign multiple times and the writers never mention the hive until your ghost starts talking about them, acting like you know who they are.

Exactly. There's tons of times in the story where your ghost goes off on some tangent talking about completely unexplained details.... Like jesus if your not gonna include a story than don't pretend like it's there lololol. Grimoire is such a cop out. To this day I still haven't read a single one. I think I have over 500 hours played😑. No reason to read them. Waste of my time honestly. I can read better stories online if I want. I prefer the stories of games to be in them as I play them. Because that's the point of playing the game in the first place. I don't want to go to the internet to have my games story explained to me.

While I'm a huge fan of the lore, I agree that the Grimoire thing was a cop out too. But hey, I look at Destiny like I did Titanfall. It was their first try, they effed it up and hopefully will get it together for the sequel. I like the Grimoire concept, but let's not rely on those cards to tell the majority of the story.

They ' ll probably improve grimoire in game . Maybe also with some media
