I know i am not the only person who notices that ALL currencies in the game are being heavily inflated and losing value.
Vanguard Marks were the first to go. Now they are only useful for free materials which in turn makes material farming a BROKEN and USELESS aspect of the game.
Crucible Marks are exactly the same. Once you have the guns you want (IF you even want them, i personally think their all rubbish) they are used for mats, which FURTHER makes material farming a thing of the past.
Glimmer is supposed to be the "main" currency, but since there is NOTHING good to spend glimmer on besides more heavy synth and IB gear once every 2 months. The glimmer cap is a joke at 25k.
Strange coins are QUICKLY going out of style as most people have upward of 100 by now and have collected MOST exotics. The Xur prices are TOO low for top tier gear. I have enough coins to buy EVERYTHING xur sells for the next 3 weeks straight without farming another coin.
Motes of light I think have taken an even bigger fall than strange coins because there is less selection of stuff to buy with them. Basically motes of light=Exotic engrams/Items from the speaker, and that is all. Motes, which are slightly harder to attain than strange coins are virtually useless once you hit late game and have ALL exotic armor.
UPGRADE MATERIALS ARE EVEN WORSE
Ascendant Materials are basically useless after the first month of the dark below. I have over 300 energy/shards each and i don't see myself using them anytime soon. People actually get ANGRY for getting ascendant materials from nightfalls and raids. Their value is so depleted that it feels like a WASTE OF TIME earning them.
Exotic shards haven't lost all value yet since the time it takes to upgrade exotic items is still relevant to how man you earn/buy in a given week, but I am at about to hit the tipping point where i have more shards than i will ever need. Basically I almost have enough exotic shards to upgrade EVERY exotic in the game. I've earned these shards without buying them, and that is scary. If i actually bought shards every week they would already another inflated currency to me.
I feel like the solution to all these problems is our lack of content to buy with our currencies. We as guardians have few options to spend our currencies on.
The fact the vanguard, crucible, and faction shops are static in the sense that they NEVER change is hurting our gameplay options and destroying the values of our currencies.
The fact that the gunsmith becomes a heavy ammo dealer once you hit level 20 NEEDS to be fixed. The gunsmith in a shooting game NEEDS to be a more popular NPC with more options for our weapon needs.
The shipwright is ABSOLUTELY USELESS as ships are nothing more than loading screens and her shop sells nothing but crappy ships and crappy sparrows. The fact that you dismantle an entire space vehicle with warp drive functions and interplanetary travel for absolutely NOTHING is just stupid. You don't even get glimmer. You don't even get GLIMMER for dismantling a space ship.
The speaker and shader seller are in the same boat, i don't need to rant on them too hard, but the main problem is they rarely update their shops with recycled content that they have been selling since launch. Just dumb.
I feel like as guardians we need more options and outlets to FURTHER customize our characters appearance aswell as our guns. Our class specific armors. Our cloaks, our bonds, our dishtowels aren't enough to make me feel like a snowflake in this vast universe. My friend who doesn't play the game was watching me play my hunter, and he asked me "Why do you even need a cloak in the future? You have space armor on" And for the life of me, i couldn't give him an honest answer to why they serve a purpose to our game.
Let me know what you guys think, and If you have any good ideas I'll edit and credit them to you in my OP

11 RespostasAt the very least the Gunsmith should actually be a gunsmith! And I don't mean in a re-roll perk way like the Iron Banner vendor. He should sell weapon parts like scopes, barrels, muzzles, and butt stocks. These weapon parts would affect range, accuracy, impact and stability. Maybe you could only change or add one or two custom parts to any randomly rolled weapon. Obviously exotics should not be customizable, but perhaps there could be some exotic weapon parts to possible give our legendary weapons a unique part like a cool scope like Suros or Pocket Infinity. Or maybe even have a very high end part or two for each elemental part to finally added 'burn' to our favorite weapons for NightFall. And by high end I mean something way over the glimmer cap. So my plan would be to remove weapons from the gunsmith stock permanently. We already have two Quartermasters that could carry those entry level weapons. Instead the gunsmith would only make modifications. Maybe his reputation could be build up by recycling all those weapon parts that we break down with and also become a useless currency. Also do away with marks and just use glimmer as currency for weapons and armor. We already have commendations which would still be needed to make purchases for the higher level armor and weapons. The outfitter could be changed similar to the gunsmith and add true customization to our armor, but visually: colors, artistic etching, materials. The speaker should have some type of influence over our light right? I mean he's our direct communication contact with the creator of our light. So maybe he should be the person to go see when we want to make stat adjustments to our armor. He should also sell exotic 'runes' that could add buffs to our legendary armor. Perhaps damage buffs for certain enemy races, like raid armor, or shield buffs against certain types of elemental damage. Everything should be scaled though, we should be able to create our own exotics, but our legendary gear should be personalized and more fun to use, making them even harder to scrap. Factions need a better role in the game and better gear that we can 'earn' through rep and glimmer. The shipwright and special procurement NPCs are completely useless. I thought for sure they were adding something to to special delivery window of the 'post office' when it was closed off and boarded up a couple of weeks ago, but nope, smh. The cryptarch can still be a dick, I don't care any more but at least give us an option to buy a rng engram for rare and legendary armor and weapons just like Zur does. No promise of the armor panning out to something for your class or the heavy weapon engram decoding into a great rocket launcher, instead of a weaker machine gun. Lastly, and going back to weapons, some need to be reclassified. A 50 caliber sniper rifle was designed for armored targets, not infantry, lol. Sniper rifles should move down to the heavy weapons slot. Face it IB packs one helluva punch on its own comparable to some rocket launchers if you as I me, shot for shot. Hand Cannons are side arms, meant to be back up weapons in modern warfare, they should move to the special weapons classification. Or maybe we should just have three slots to equip with any weapon of our choosing so long as we don't equip more than one exotic at a time. So if I want to play a real ranged type of character, I should be able to carry a scout rifle, hand cannon and sniper rifle all at the same time. And since character classes don't have drastic differences, we should also be able to wear less armor as a Titan, to increase our agility and play as a sniper; or increase our armor as a hunter to really become that CQC warrior, all shotguns and knives and able to take few more bullets. Okay, sorry for the long read. I said this was my last suggestion/idea three ideas ago, lol. And why can't our companion apps really be companions and become second screens? No more waiting for loading screens in the heat of battle to use that heavy ammo synth, do it right from your tablet with a tap of the screen. And don't get me started on online shopping we we can't be in the Destiny game world. Don't get started on this companion app! Argh!

4 RespostasEditado por JBO: 3/7/2015 12:54:27 PMThe thing is this is an issue for a lot of people like me and you but it's not even close to an issue for just as many people. I notice this when raiding with randoms who are hoping for a particular ascendant material when opening VOG chest or saying they need more strange coins if Xur sells a primary etc. I'm like...I have 500+ ascendant materials and 200 some odd coins. I played with some guys not long ago and one was saying man I've got like 40 coins saved up Xur needs to sell something good soon. Me...oh I have 200. The whole team almost in unison WTF? From doing what?? Me...just playing the game...doing weeklies and stuff. So there's still plenty people out there who aren't in our situation. Us day one players who have had 3 characters for most of that time and raid every week have just pushed the game to its limit.
-
I have to disagree. First, you are addressing the problem the wrong way. The currencies aren't being inflated; we don't even have an economy, so that is out the window. Simply put, the currency we have is easily obtained, that is your problem you are purporting. The currencies we have are generally obtained at a fair rate when playing occasionally. This allows those who can't play the game too often to stay with adequate gear. This rate doesn't change with those who play the game religiously. So those who do so, exhaust the activities, and reap the maximum amount of resources each week. This is to be expected, and the fact that the game is played too hard isn't a valid reason to support the claim that you have too much currency and nothing to do with it.
-
What would be nice is if you could exchange currencies for other things. I have over 800 ascendant shards and 600 energies. Even if HoW goes back to using ascendant materials I will still have more than enough for all 3 of my characters. Of you could exchange them for glimmer, coins, mats (spin metal, helium, saphirr wire, etc) I would still have a use for them. Granted this would probably require a restructuring of the game and how many mats are required for upgrading gear. And I can't agree more about the ships. I'm pretty sure at some point in the story dinklebot says something about how rare space faring ships with warp drives (or what ever they are called in this game) and yet breaking them down gives you nothing, so apparently they aren't even worth some glimmer.
-
I think every week the factions, vanguard, and crucible vendors should rotate the perks on their weapons and armor. Then we might buy more gear and use more commendations and currency. Or they could offer a rerolling option like iron banner but use marks or commendations not motes of light. Then we would have further use for those currencies and use more materials leveling up new gear. I'd also like to be able to buy sapphire wire, hadronic essence, and plasteel plating without buying green armor for glimmer.
-
It's probably because all your dang characters are level 32 and don't need anything else while other people through 31 still are buying some weapons and other items.... If you want them to have some use why don't you just delete all your characters and redo the whole story? So there's no reason to blow up because you've beaten the game 3 times and have the best weapons. YOU don't need the currencies, but OTHER PEOPLE do so I don't see any reason to waste your time posting this on the forums when you could be playing in the crucible or something......
-
I do not have any of the problems that you have. I think you have simply played the game too much. You need to play some other games.
-
You kinda lost me way back at the "they made farming useless" part. That sucks because you were making some valid points up until there.
-
I think you're overblowing things a bit but I like your ideas in a vacuum. I think that rotating the vendor stock on regular basis would be a good way to keep things fresh. They have a catalogue of pre-dlc legendaries they could bring back at 331 to keep variety in the vendor inventory. I also think that allowing the gunsmith to reroll perks for legendaries would be good (like our iron banner gear). It may be tough to balance it right, but if there was a significant time commitment needed (maybe he could only reroll fully upgraded legendaries) then I think we could keep it from being too overpowered. The inflation issue only affects the diehards (like most of the people who post regularly on the forum). I think the average player who doesn't dump a boat load of time in game every week isn't having the same issues you're having. And even if you do have an abundance of currencies and upgrade materials you could use them on the gear available. I think a lot of players feel like they can't take off their level 32 gear. But the reality is that being level 32 only really matters in the raid. In every other activity (nightfalls, pvp, patrols, etc) there is no tangible difference between maxed vendor gear 31 and maxed raid gear. So you could burn your currency on getting specific vendor armor for a more situationally driven build. All in all, not bad for a rant.

Editado por ThisMahSwamp: 3/10/2015 1:24:37 PM> Glimmer > Vanguard Marks > Crucible Marks > Vanguard Commendations > Crucible Commendations > Ascendant Energy > Ascendant Shards > Radiant Energy > Radiant Shards > Spin Metal > Helium Filaments > Relic Iron > Spirit Bloom > Strange Coins > Exotic Shards > Weapon Parts > Hadronic Essence > Plate Steel > Sapphire Wire What's funny about all of this is we can do without all but one of these. Glimmer should have been the only currency/upgrade material required. It's fascinating actually typing it out. You can really grasp how much unnecessary shit is in the game.
-
All you're going to get is a new type of currency, no further use for the old ones, and the same severely limited content. "Welcome to our Destiny" -Bungie
-
3 RespostasSolution. Double price on all xur inventory. Sell heavy synth for motes of light instead of strange coins. Buy vanguard/crucible/faction rep for acendent materials. Add raid bounty vendor that sells raid gear for radiant materials I think glimmer is fine as is.
-
I've got 26 exotic shards and I have never bought one and I have plenty of gear which is maxed out. Says it all
-
1 ResponderThe scary thing is what if Bungie really DOESN't learn and introduces "super-duper radiant shards/energy" for HoW? If there is yet another currency or currencies added it'll be a game changer. I think that'd be it for me. But, in May the weather here is perfect so i won't be logging many hours at all in destiny. Too much golf and building old cars out in my shop
-
1 ResponderLol, you didn't even touch the mess that is commendations. After buying an armor and weapon or two, they then stack with no use at all, not even materials. They need some more avenues to swap currency out, especially with so many currently. But also need more worthwhile things to spend on, possibly new features, etc.
-
2 RespostasThis is the only aspect of why I despise this game. I don't mind the grind until the grind becomes pointless and unrewarding. The only items left for me to grind for are black hammer, ghorn, and the crux drop. After having +1000 hours of the grind I still can not get these
-
This is why all the veterans rely on rng since nothing that is sold has any value.
-
1 ResponderI agree with OP more content needs to be added to the vendors. Variety is lacking and everyone looks the same in this game. I'm afraid they will make the currencies more difficult to obtain and leave it at that. There should be enough guns armor and gadgets to make it impossible to have a complete exotic collection. Bungie please use some imagination less variety to currencies more to actual stuff we can buy.
-
2 RespostasI think it'd be interesting to see some stats from Bungie of who the Destiny players are... Example: 1 million active players (log in past month) 25% have more than 2 hours per day 10% have more than 100 coins/100 energies etc etc.. While I fully agree with OP, I think it'd be great to know, how many hardcore, softcore, casuals, newbies are playing the game... How many [active] players does still need X coins/energies/shards or whatever per week? How many players are playing without any real reward awaiting (fully upgraded) and just awaiting next DLC. How many active players have finished VoG, or CE?
-
1 ResponderAll currencies need to exist in a gold standard environment with trading/exchanging options across the board. The current system is like the original Disneyland ticketing system.
-
Wow I didn't realize this at all, you're completely right! Nothing has value anymore. People can strive for things but in reality most people already have it so it loses its value even further!! I am happy that you brought this to people's attention! 10/10 well written
-
Your right.
-
Honestly even WoW had this problem. After a while I just sat there with my currencies maxed out (except gold) and had nothing to buy.
-
Don't think it was added..but... Commendations... ..personally I have 50+ in Vangaurd/Crucible.. will continue to grow also..
