I wouldn't direct this opinion at a transgender person out of respect. But in my own opinion, no amount of hormone therapy or surgery is going to turn you into the opposite sex. However if you want to be called a male or female that's fine I'll respect that and call you whatever you want.

Disregarding genitals, explain what defines someone's sex.

Edited by brandorobot: 5/24/2013 2:39:25 PMHow can you disregard that which is pretty important? I'm not trying to disrespect them and I'm aware gender and sex have some difference. If you feel like you're a female in a male body that's fine, but I don't think you can ever change your body completely. If it makes people feel better in their own skin then more power to them. And I'm not speaking for them but I think that might be all they want is to look the way they feel. That I can acknowledge and respect.

So what do we do about those with both sets of genetalia or none? How is their sex established?

That's another thing, and not for me to determine. I'll respect whatever gender people want to identify themselves with.
