Actually, actions usually cause more change. There's a reason why certain things in destiny never change when those who complain about said things are the ones playing it constantly. Most companies base their changes off of the actions of those who are supporting the company, not what some people say. If someone doesn't like something or doesn't want to support it, then actively not playing or doing things will cause things to change much quicker than just speaking about things. Bungie will most likely make any changes to marathon before it releases based on the feedback they receive from those that play the closed alpha or an open beta if they do one. If they notice certain things in the game being ignored or barely anyone using or doing certain things, then they will fix or change them.

I think you might find that a lot of people are going to be “acting” on what they’ve seen regarding Marathon. This is on top of a very low transfer rate of people from D2 to Marathon for the obvious reasons you yourself laid out. Personally I think the graphics and sound, as well as the general presentation looks appealing, but I won’t be touching it due to how Bungie has handled PVP for the last handful of years. A lot of people share this sentiment. Marathon has a bunch to overcome, only time will tell if it succeeds.

Either way, at the end of the day, there is already a decent sized group interested in the game. A majority of the people that are hating on the game are just the destiny players that never intended to play the game or that got their feelings hurt by being told that not every game needs to be made for them. I don't think it has a bunch to overcome. It has some things it definitely needs to have figured out before launch, but I wouldn't say it has a lot. Also, comparing destiny pvp to Marathon pvp doesn't really make sense. Destiny has never had pvp be its main focus, so comparing it to a game that is solely focused on it doesn't amount to a lot. Just like any pvp game, it will naturally have some things to work out before it's full release or even after it. There's also the fact that there isn't a downside to it doing good that I've seen a lot of people have an issue with. If the game brings in more money, then that will lead to destiny, Marathon, or both getting better funding to improve things. I'm not trying to sway anyone into playing or buying the game by any means, but having people who are just instantly hating on the game for either pointless reasons or because they have an issue with bungie having more than 1 genre of game makes no sense to me. I've even seen people claim they have no interest in the game, yet they are talking about daily. If they truly didn't have an interest in it, then why even talk about it at all?
