I am going to have to disagree with you. If you remember from Destiny 1 we had motes of light which were spheres, the most complex 3-dimensional object. Motes of dark are tetrahedrons. The simplest 3-dimensional object. The dark and the light are opposites all the way down to their shape. The light comes from the traveler, so it would make sense for the darkness to come from the pyramid ships. The gardener isn't in control and he isn't the source of light, the winnower isn't in control of the darkness either. The winnower is more of an agent to the darkness. No one is in control of the light or dark. They are simply sourced from the traveler and the pyramid ships. The light lives in all places in all things. We overlook this quite a bit. Even an average human has a smidge of light in them. You may remember Dredgen Yor saying to his victims something along the line of, "Your light is pathetic" before dispatching the man who was a normal human. Calus stared into the dark abyss and so the pyramid ships. It stared back. Not the winnower. I rest my case.

  •
The light comes from the traveler

The gardener isn't in control and he isn't the source of light
Contradicting yourself. Also the Traveler is the Gardener.
The winnower is more of an agent to the darkness
The Winnower is a god, just like the Gardener, it IS the darkness/deep.

And I give to u this philosophical point. Darkness inherently isnt the opposite of light, just the absence.... And what are we learning in beyond light. What the absence of light does to a race~

  • I have to disagree with you there, as the lore specifically states that the Gardener and Winnower are the literal creators of all universes. There is no power of any kind greater than them. I fully break down the Darkness, the Light and the relationship between the Gardener and the Winnower in my video "The Origin and History of the Darkness and the Light."

  • That lore is narrated from the Darkness in Shadowkeep and they very well could be lying. The Darkness will do anything to have us side with them instead of the Traveler.

  • How do you know they aren't lying though? The Darkness is the one who told us they predate space and time. The Traveler isn't the Light in the same way the Pyramids aren't the Dark.

The Traveler isn't the Light in the same way the Pyramids aren't the Dark.
Without the traveler there is no Light, yes the traveler/gardener is what the Light comes from (proof, guaul caging it cut us and our ghost off from it, we got our power back by tethering ourselves to a shard in the edz that was not suppresed by guaul cage) The darkness is inevitable, it doesn't even feel the need to attack us directly right now or even threaten us because it knows it can easily win, even against the traveler, Savathun tried to stop it (the darkness) from telling us to go to Europa to discover (our future subclasses) what's hidden there, the darkness doesn't need to lie or blind us from the truth to get us to be tempted to accept it and go to it Unlike the traveler that stays silent and sits there doing nothing the darkness openly does what it needs to do to win, by putting all cards on the table and sway us to its side more or less as a TL;DR

  • I would argue that their ships are catalyst for darkness. If light passes through a prism, it bends and separates the colors. Bungie loves the shapes and what it does to light, so knowing that makes me wonder if the traveler helps them grow further? Also explains why guardians may be swayed, bent to their will? And also why this whole “don’t rely” on the light argument comes up. But what shape does the Nine form?

But what shape does the Nine form?
The nine have no form, they are formless entities that are in the "immaterial dark matter" kinda realm, they can do certain things that can interfere with things in the material realm but are not able to become material beings themselves as they are still trying to find a way, without the solar system they would die, it's assumed each one of them are the celestial bodies in the solar system including our sun , with mars and mercury going away (either terraformed and turned dark by the pyramids.. or simply destroyed by them) i would guess this would affect two of the Nine IF indeed those planets have their own life force and that life force is basically one of each of the Nine Time will tell, it's very complicated
