I wake, sitting bolt upright I can see nothing. It's dark. Not the kind of dark where your eyes have adjusted, no... The kind of dark, that even with your eyes open, you still cannot see anything. No shapes, no outlines, no distant glow, you may as well have your eyes closed. I fumble around, slowly at first. I'm not sure where I am, or what might be near me in this suffocating darkness. Once I've realised that there's nothing near me, I calm down enough so that I can hear past my thumping heartbeat... Nothing... Nothing but deafening silence. It's funny you know, how long it takes to acclimatize to no sound. I stand up, realising quickly that my feet are numb. I can't feel anything. How long have I been here? Obviously long enough that my legs and feet have gone pretty much completely asleep, but apart from that, I don't remember anything. All of a sudden, a loud bang tears through the thick void of silence. A bright light blinds me immediately... I hold my hand over my eyes to shield them, desperately trying to focus my vision on the opening in front of me... I hear a familiar voice...
