Should sniper rifles be as effective quick-scoping as when you ADS?

Edit: just linked one of countless YouTube videos for those saying it can't be done. Watch the video and tell me snipers should function like that. The kick should be so violent there's no way to hit those shots. Fire any Fusion Rifle, particularly when you don't ADS and see how much that thing kicks. ------op------ There are so many complaints about sniper rifles on these forums and discussions on whether they need to be changed. It's already led to the removal of special ammo in 3v3 (although it really didn't affect snipers or shotgun users thanks to Icebreaker and Invective), but I think there is a clear problem with them and survival weapons in general and there's a solution to the problem that doesn't involve removing ammo. The problem with sniper rifles is they currently don't have any weakness at any range. From 400 yards to 4 feet, they're precision instruments of death. The problem as I see it, is the insanely easy ability to no-scope and quick-scope with them. There's no way someone should be able to no scope you at 100 yards or line you up with another weapon and then quick-scope you at close range. Since 2.0.1 when I fire a Fusion Rifle there's just stupid muzzle kick whether I ADS or hip fire, so how is it that a sniper rifle hip fire shoots straight as an arrow? I think when hip firing a sniper rifle, it should be almost impossible to regularly land shots. Snipers no-scoped should have way more kick than a Fusion Rifle. Also when quick scoping, there should be a delay in the barrel drawing level. Players should not be able to line up a shot with another weapon and swap/fire and still be lined up. These changes would have zero effect on players who use snipers at intended range and scope their targets and eliminate the bullshit run around and sniper from 5 feet crap that exists now. Make Fusion Rifles true mid range weapons again and specials would be balanced again.

    I've not seen a large amount of the player base having the ability to pull off no scopes "easily." It happens, but in my opinion it is the exception more than the rule. It's definitely not as prevalent as it was in the old Halo 2/Halo 3 days. I appreciate the ideas on how to continue to improve the Crucible experience. I'll continue to take feedback to the devs about making reducing the effectiveness of snipers. There have been a ton of ideas expressed here including decreasing auto aim, increasing flinch, and even adding a scope sway.     • All of u defending sniping LOL that's just it, year one there were counters for u head glitching hard scoping crybabys. Year 2 there is no counter that is why people are upset because there is nothing to counter them. So instead of coming in here and defending the fact that snipers are OP in this meta. Bring down ur hard scope and look at what's going on. Snipers will be nerfed or shottys and fusions will be brought up. Either way, the tears will shed from ur eyes snipers

        • You know.... Never heard anybody cry about this until Destiny. Did you never play Halo? Because the sniper mechanics are almost the same. Except Halo is even more broken because no matter which way you move or jump the shot hits exactly where the center of the screen is.... So.... Why are you just now crying when its always been like this with Bungie?

          • They should be effective at all ranges but just be hard to use at short range... I think other guns should be buffed then snipers wouldn't be a problem just like in year 1. but if a nerf had to happen, only one I can think of that wouldn't break snipers would be that pretty high quick damage takes them out of zoom (rapid head shots or one hand cannon headshot) but unflinching keeps them zoomed in, high caliber would make it take less damage to kick them out of zoom or it counters unflinching completely.

          • Why dont they just simply add a zoomout when shot and an idle sway. I think the zoomout is why halo had sniper control.

                • keep in mind that you can't really judge the kick of a sniper to that of a fusion. The sniper whether it's hard scoped, quick scoped, or no scoped. It fires one bullet that will hit wherever the barrel is aimed.Where a fusion rifle fires several projectiles each with it's own kick. I think thwe kick is too much, and needs to be toned down on the fusions, but that's a different topic.

                • Imo, snipers should have a change similar to how shotguns were changed. If you're going to use your sniper, you have to commit to it. Your suggestion is nice. I like it, but I think more should be done. Increase the time it takes for them ADS and come out of scope and increase the time it takes to draw and stow a sniper, as well as the changes you suggested. This way, if you want to snipe, you're going to have to commit to it, because if someone gets the drop on you at close or even mid range, you should not be able to just come out of scope and no/quick scope the attacker. That's ridiculous.

                • All they need to do IMO is change sniper rifle base handling so that even with a "snappy" scope, you are relatively slow bringing it to your shoulder where you can get off an accurate shot.

                  • If you got knocked out of ADS when shot on snipers only it would fix so much. Snipers would be forced to CHOOSE no scope or RISK hard scope. The only problem that remains is quick scoping. Just give it a completely unrealistic 3-5 frame delay between ADS and firing like Shotguns and this problem solves itself. The red laser would actually be worth a damn and EVERY quick scope becomes a skilled quick scope.

                    • Yeah I don't know man. Most of those kills were two shots or low health. Very few one hit headshots. I don't think there's really an issue here.

                      • Dang dude now they will nerf snipers. While I admit getting sniped is annoying, it's also not that hard to snipe right back. And a lot of snipers are so busy aiming down sight they forget to check them flank, which is where I own them.

                          • Yes. A sniper rifle is used by someone who sits, unmoving, and watches targets at a distance. This solution would force them back into that niche, which is fine for PvE and would fix the issue with sniping in PvP. Please, Bungie. Acknowledge this. We could have our special ammo back and everything.

                            • "There's no way someone should be able to no scope you at 100 yards" Uhm.. Yeah totally.. Sadly it's not like that. Yes snapshot makes you ADS quicker as the perk is designed. Still takes a lot of skill and complete luck to no scope. Quick scoping is either luck or sight alinement but you can never aline your sights perfectly. Second off, it's a sniper. Range shouldn't be a problem.

                              • Sniper rifles are not the problem. It's that most primary weapons are no where as good as they used to be and there aren't any other competitive special weapons anymore. Fusion rifles are trash, hand cannons accuracy and range make them nearly unusable. Pulse rifles are not bad but not as good as they used to be. Auto rifles still suck. It's just that snipers haven't been nerfed to hell like nearly everything else.

                              • BTW, I don't use ice breaker, invective, or sidearm to get ammo. I guess I'm too proud and know how to stay alive for 30 seconds.
