These are all awesome ideas, however, you’re missing one thing. This isn’t a PvP game. It’s a mainly PvE game with PvP as an add on. While I do agree that bungie needs some more maps and some tweaks on how the PvP system works, there doesn’t need to be all these big changes.
Some of the things you suggested could be in smaller updates, but this isn’t and shouldn’t be the focus of the developers. This is game is much more for PvE than it is for PvP

I'm not even going to argue that it's not a PVP game. You're right, it isn't the main focus. Which is odd to me that they put staple PVP modes in destiny. I think that if PVP isn't truly the main focus of Destiny then they would just give more agency to the players and empower them to make custom modes for them to just implement in the game. I remember back in the day when I played doom, on real tournament, quake etc I liked it when we would make up new rules to engage in the game. We need to go back to that. We need to recapture what FPS were like and modernize it to today's standards. People have such an issue with people using a specific gun that someone earned because they get shot by it and they don't understand that there are things you need to do to overcome specific builds. People make the excuse that all they want to do is face roll everything and not commit to anything. I would think then that many people would welcome option two.

Things can be done for PvP without taking attention from the part of the game you like more.
-
Oh no, I agree. I’m all for adjustments and add one, but it seems like the OP wants to turn D2 into a full on PvP FPS. I’m all for the new maps and adjustments, but we don’t need a firing range or buffs on the floor. There also doesn’t need to be that much customization to Private matches.
-
The PvP part of the game should have some form of PvP in it that is a truly directed and concerted effort at making the best, most competitive, most engrossingly engaging PvP possible. It can do this without taking away from PvE. If you look at what they've shown us for PvE so far in Witch Queen its looking like there's a good chance it will be the best PvE has ever been. None of the things the OP mentions are really bad ideas. Every part of the game should grow and evolve.
-
That’s true. I guess I’m just not for some of the ideas, mainly the firing range. But you’re right, they aren’t bad ideas. And it’s for bungie to decide if they want to implement them

Modificato da A_mo: 11/25/2021 3:21:14 PMCan I ask why you don't like the idea of a firing range? Its not necessarily the most important thing they could do, but what would it hurt? Aiming as a skill could stand to have a bit more of a focus in this game and its probably going to, so it would help us practice.
-
I agree, it wouldn’t hurt. I’m not really opposed to it, I just think it would be a waste of resources. If you wanna practice aim you can go into patrol and practice sniping dregs or do an Altar of Sorrow and just practice sniping or shooting things. There are plenty of options
-
That's true. And there are probably things for PvP and PvE that should come before something like that. I was just wondering because I see it suggested quite often but there's always people that say no they shouldn't add one.
-
Yeah. I don’t see why there shouldn’t add one, other than the reason that there are better things to spend the time on

This really getting tiring to hear. It's Bungie themselves who promoted the game as e-sports game at the beginning of D2 until they realised that's never gonna happen, and it was Bungie used PvP modes (trials) to promote game as a whole (not just presenting as a side mode), it was Bungie who promised again and again that PvP would be revitalised with maps, modes etc... Maybe tell them that their game isn't a PvP game first
-
I actually never saw their marketing. I bought D2 because I loved D1. And I came back because of the sane reason. I can see why they market to PvP, because of the greater audience, but you’re right, they should’ve put in the work. Maybe that was part of their downfall though. Because they tried to hard to focus on PvP and appeal to the masses, they messed it up. It would’ve been better to stick with what was tried and true in D1
-
They in fact tried back in D1 to make it more of an esport. They didn't lose that Spirit but they did lose focus over time. PVP has taken a back seat for a while and even back then I still did believe that destiny not a PVP game. PVP is more of a formality and an expectation of players who have grown up with the internet. People will believe that because it's online they automatically believe that there will be multiplayer and if it's an FPS you damn well sure that they're going to say it needs PVP. PVP is not destiny's identity. What makes Destiny what it is is the PVE, the crackaboom, abilities, gear, lore, characters, story. For those that want to kick back and change up and just have fun shooting each other in the face, I think again that player agency is necessary here. The aforementioned suggestion number two would definitely pique everyone's interest.

Why should it not be a PVP game too??? It really should get more attention and it would retain me a lot more.
