Destiny is set 200 million years in the future
13.4 billion years ago, the first stars kindled out of darkness, seeding the future of all life.
This is the in game description for starfire protocol, a warlock chest. However, the oldest known star is only 13.2 billion years old. Therefor, we can deduce that the game is set 200,000,000 years in the future.

If destiny is set so far ahead in the future, why are the weapons still like todays guns... surely a green lantern style ring, magical gauntlets, skin tight mech suits... i could go on, would be a better fit (but i guess you could say its an alternative universe where thats just the way it is)
