Not completely worthless if you need class specific materials (plating, essence, wire) or weapon parts.

Strikes are still faster Loot caves are pointless

Yes correct, it is worthless if the aim is to get e legendary engram but it is useful for materials to upgrade your armor and weapons. However strikes do give you more blue items per hour which gives you more material per item dismantled (compared to the greens that you will get from loot caves).
