Very interesting debate. Here's my thoughts on the matter: Had I had an actual Vex to come into my home and pose for me I would have gone with that route. Sadly, I don't know any personally. Therefore, I was forced to go with a photo of one for my model. However, just as I would have had to do in real life, I was tasked with taking what I was seeing and transferring it onto a sketch pad in pencil while trying to recreate all of the textures, shapes, colors, lighting, shadows, etc. as best I could in shades of black and grey. While the design itself is not original, the piece I created very much is, and was done so using several artistic techniques. Art is always subjective. Some will call it art. Others will not. Whether you do or not doesn't bother me. It is art to me, and that is all that matters.
