I've hit checkpoints and finished entire waves (usually w/o dying) before people catch up. I get the better loot, the strike moves along, the other guys are happy killing everything behind. No sense in forcing them to change what they're doing.

Would be fine if this method meant you did get the best loot, but how often do you see the last guardian with the lowest kills (AKF'ers I'm looking at you here) getting an exotic or legendary reward?

A guy got Multitool once. I can't complain too much. I get ships and legendaries fairly often, one of which gave me ice breaker.
