I don't think Bungie would look at skipping the Deathsingers as cheating. Perhaps an abuse of/manipulation of their checkpoint system, but not cheating. Also, perhaps you don't recognize this, but there are a fair amount of people that know how to do it legit, but prefer to not waste their time since there is no reward tied to the Deathsingers. For me, I thought not getting a reward when we beat her on the raid's debut day was a glitch. It was hard initially and I assumed that SOMETHING should drop. Now it's easy, but why waste time over something when you get nothing for it. To fix this, Bungie could add a loot drop (weapons/armor/etc.) for her on hard mode.
